Introduction
According to encyclopedia air pollution is the introduction of particles, biological molecules or other harmful material into the earth atmosphere. Possible causing diseases, death to human, damage to other living organisms.
The Vaal Triangle is a highly industrialized area housing numerous industries, a coal fired power station, with various smaller industrial and commercial activities in addition to a few mines and giving rise to noxious and offensive gasses. The Vaal Triangle is also home to a number of large informal settlements mainly using coal and wood as fuel source. This in impacts directly on the health and wellbeing of the people residing there.
Air pollution is very dangerous and hence people know about it but they do not know the effect and according to the 2014 World Health Organization report, air pollution in 2012 caused the deaths of around 7 million people worldwide. India has the highest death rate due to air pollution. India also has more deaths from asthma than any other nation according to the World Health Organization. In December 2013 air pollution was estimated to kill 500,000 people in China each year. This are the effect that can be caused by air pollution

Topic
INVESTIATION OF AIR POLLUTION IN VAAL TRIANGLE

AIM
These research will be outlining more about the causes of air pollution in the Vaal triangle and help highlight the issue to the community, Understanding the sources of air pollution, how to prevent air pollution and also how to sustain our environment for the future.

Rationale
One of the worst things faced by our community, Vaal has the most pollution sources such as mining, coal power station, steel company, coal burning from households and oil refineries. Vaal triangle air quality is generally considers to be poor as a results of the multitude of industrial pollution sources and dust from cultivated agricultural land.
Reasons regarding the Vaal Triangle selection as an area of importance has to do with air quality which is extremely poor. People living within the area cannot breathe air that has harmful effects on the well-being and health. People suffer from a high amount of respiratory problems. Some of the problems consist of wheezing, asthma, as well as early morning coughing. Since I have been staying here for over 10 years I have also been to hospital for month because of asthma.
The health of inhaling the smell of raw sewage is not likely an immediate threat but contact with contaminants and bacteria is a cause of illness. Particles of raw sewage are able to become airborne, however, and inhalation of these particles causes health effects. Raw sewage poses the biggest threat to public health when it enters the water supply,. While boiling water before consuming it minimizes the risk of waterborne illness, there is a high risk of potentially deadly diseases such as cholera and dysentery from drinking water contaminated with raw sewage.
One of the major reasons regarding the Vaal Triangle selection as an area of priority has to do with air quality considered extremely poor. People living within the area cannot breathe air that has harmful effects on the well-being and health. Additionally, people suffer from a high amount of respiratory problems. Some of the problems consist of wheezing, asthma, as well as early morning coughing.

Literature Review
As of now, Vaal Triangle has been identified as one of the national air pollution hot spots according to the National Environment Management Air Quality Act 2004 (Act No. 39 of 2004) (AQA). In effect, In response, the National Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism. According to J.R MUDAKAVI AIR POLLUTION CONTROL AND ANALYSIS. My point of view is that Vaal has many firms that do not help the community in reducing the air pollution problem, these is what causes the spread of air pollution.
According to TATA MCGRAW-HILL EDUCATION AIR POLLUTION(1989)
Are now implementing a variety of different interventions for the improvement of the air quality within the area of Vaal Triangle. These will help our community build a better life as some people where relocating to other places people will now see their future in Vaal
Even the Fundamental of air pollution, fourth edition, by Daniel A. Vallero also support more on the issue of air pollution Ultimately, Air Quality Management implementation Plan was developed as a monitoring tool for the improvement of the air quality. In addition to that community based organization, government and business established to make sure the process is effective and achievable. These should be implemented to the government policy that all firm should have a certain amount of carbon monoxide to emit per day and there should be charges.

Methodology
This research proposal will consist of 6 chapters:
Introduction-This research will be outlining the impact caused by air pollution in the Vaal region, help us know the things to do to reduce it and what firms can do to support the project of planting trees to reduce air pollution.
Chapter 1
This chapter will focus on gathering information, Going to libraries read more about air pollution and understand its negative aspect, and also use the internet to support and gather more information. This will build the research and give proper support.

Chapter 2
Go to clinics talk to nurses about the negative effect of the pollution and how is it growing, and how can we help reduce the negative effects. And know what they have done to help our community know about the matter.
Chapter 3
Go to school, make meeting with the community making awareness about air pollution. Helping them know the negative impact done by air pollution and what can they do to not get infect by diseases caused by air pollution
Chapter 4
So I’ll be going to these firms making them aware about the issues of air pollution and how it’s affecting our community in terms of health and environment.
Chapter 5
Ill inform them on how they can help maintain and sustain the community for a next future, using fliers and other stuff
Chapter 6
Make companies be part of the campaign that will be done in the community
Make an report on the feed back

Conclusion
The government should intervene and formulate policies that will govern the firms and restrict them from emitting a certain amount of carbon monoxide, and also the community should stop being ignorant about the matter that has claimed lives they should start campaigns that will help build a better community. Additionally, it’s believed that the area needs some kind of specific action in order to improving the problem.

Air quality is a measure of the amount of pollutants emitted into the atmosphere and the dispersion potential of an area to dilute those pollutants. It is a massive problem of urban living and remains one of the largest environmental concerns. Spatial dimension relates to how air quality differs between places at different times and under different weather patterns. Increasing population and demand for more goods puts greater pressure on air quality. The human population’s interaction with the environment relates to the ecological dimension. In terms of air quality this relates to the impacts of increased gases and particles associated with transportation, industrial activities, smoking, dust storms from over grazing on marginal land, bush fires and the burning fossil fuels . Many of these activities cause increases in carbon monoxide, ozone, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, lead and particles in the atmosphere. People get health problems due to these increases. For example, excessive carbon monoxide levels in the blood stream reduce its ability to transport oxygen. This in turn causes headaches and tiredness.…

Air pollution is the initiation of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or damages the natural environment into the atmosphere. Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, fumes, dust, or other harmful agents. According to Morgan (2003), air pollution was not a problem until the 19th century and Industrial Revolution because pollution was readily diluted in the atmosphere (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 247). Air pollution occurs in many forms but can generally be thought of as gaseous and particulate contaminants that are present in the earth 's atmosphere (Air Pollution - Its Nature, Sources, and Effects, 2013). Natural sources of air pollution include forest fires, dust storms, and volcanic eruptions (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 249).…

One of the main causes of air pollution is manufacturing. This source of pollution spews particulate matter and chemicals into the atmosphere. The particulate matter and chemicals that come from a factory includes Sulfur oxides, Nitrogen oxides, Carbon monoxide and dioxide. And these kinds of chemicals and pollutions are very harmful to humans, animals, nature, and other living things. For example, when these kinds of pollutions are spewed up into the space, they’re going to break the Ozone that protects us from the sunlight. Moreover, they also can make us unhealthy such as; decrease our lung functions, cough, shortness of breath, and also make asthma and other lung diseases get worse. So these chemicals and pollutions are very harmful to humans and other living things.…

There are two main air pollutants; one is natural causes e.g. windblown dust, pollen, fog etc. and the other is that which we call people pollution. This is the most serious form of air pollution. One of the worst air pollutants which is affecting our environment today is Carbon Monoxide, a colourless, odourless gas caused by the incomplete burning of gasoline, oil, and wood. Low concentrations can cause dizziness, fatigue and headaches, while high concentrations can be fatal. Other pollutants such as Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen and Lead have contributed to the deteriorating environment. We are all guilty of the overuse of same and, consequently, we all contribute to the pollution levels from which we suffer.…
