Introduction Mr. Holland's Opus is a 1995 American drama film directed by Stephen Herek. It stars Richard Dreyfuss in the title role and the cast includes Glenne Headly, Olympia Dukakis, William H. Macy and Jay Thomas. Mr. Holland's Opus is presented as a video biography of the 30-year career of the eponymous lead character, Glenn Holland, as a music teacher at the fictional John F. Kennedy High School in Portland, Oregon. Glenn Holland (Richard Dreyfuss) is a musician and composer. After playing clubs for a living he decides to accept a job as a music teacher at a high school. He intends this to be a short term proposition until he puts together enough money to allow him to pursue his first love, composing, full time. Initially he finds it tough going, as the students have no real interest in his classes and the school orchestra, which he conducts, is absolutely awful. The gruff but earnest Principal, Ellen Jacobs (Olympia Dukakis), keeps Mr. Holland on the right path while the taciturn and puritanical Vice Principal, Gene Wolters (William H. Macy), has a problem with his use of Rock and Roll in teaching music appreciation. Despite the obstacles, Holland succeeds in building a rapport with his students who come to appreciate his unstinting efforts to help them. When his wife, Iris (Glenne Headly), announces that she is pregnant, he is initially taken aback as the realization dawns that this short term teaching gig looks like turning into a career. The arrival of their son, Coltrane (played by Nicholas John Renner as a child, Joseph Anderson as a teenager, and Anthony Natale and as an adult) is a joyful occasion but joy turns to sadness when they learn that their son is profoundly deaf. As Holland is unable to effectively communicate with his son, this leads to a rift developing between them and puts Iris in the position of

What comes to mind when you think of a modern adolescent coming of age movie? Is it alienation, rebellion, probably first love? In Donnie Darko (2001), writer/director Richard Kelly employs all of these familiar themes; then he adds humor, witty satire, time travel, apocalyptic prophecy, and a bi-pedal, six foot tall nightmare of a rabbit, who instructs the young and confused Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) through haunting visions and an eerie voice that runs through Donnie‘s head. Ok, so maybe this sounds like a plotline lifted straight from the WB's primetime lineup (minus the wit), but Kelly uses these seemingly absurd, unrelated elements to create an amazingly complex and clever story that Buffy could only dream of.…

While the scope of the special effects in the play was small, the actors’ scenes of pure emotion made up for it. One of the sons, Brian, played by Tom Pelphrey, deals with many issues, much of which relate to his past failures. In one scene, after fighting with his dad, he turns toward the audience. The deep hurt and trauma shown by his face, holds you spellbound. He is so emotional with his character that you can see his legs literally shaking; enough to make the fabric of his pants vibrate. At other points, when a family argument would insure, the yelling would seem so real, that you would almost feel scared just being in the same room. Vyto Ruginis who plays Marty, portrays a lot of yelling scenes, and yet in others he shows juxtaposition in how he treats his wife. One minute he is getting very worked up about not moving, and the next he is…

It was written by Dan Fogelman, starred by Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, and / Emma Stone, and released on 2011. Sherlock Holmes is always my favorite, not ‘one of’ . Since my father had bought me the first book of “complete stories of Sherlock Holmes”, I have read series of books about him. For many of years, Sherlock Holmes has made many books, Movies, even comics and has been played by different actors, including Christopher Lee, Clive Brook, and Holmes in “A study in pink”---- Benedict Cumberbatch., who corporate with Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson. Since I think I have seen enough words on paper to have a understanding of the Characters, I almost do not watch any film which has relationship with Sherlock. Movies can never be better than books in my point of view, but when I finish watching “A study in pink”, I think my perspective will change in the future.…

Although the film was very old, the quality of the story is equivalent to fine wine, its aged but it’s also very delicious and flavorful. Cinema Paradiso showed me how it was back then, at first glance I thought that the movie was an early Italian version of the movie “Dennis the Menace” with old Mr. Wilson as Alfredo but then again it was a two hour movie so when I continued watching it. It turned out to be a love story but not your typical love story; it was a love story on how one boy named Toto fell in love with films.…
