Re: Motivation letter for bridging course into B-EMC
My name is Lesiba Hendrick Motshegwa. I am a qualified emergency care technician currently employed by Gauteng Emergency medical services. I qualified as an Emergency Medical care technician in April 2010 and started working on 10 May 2010.
During the three years which I have been practicing as an Emergency medical personnel, I have learnt to work efficiently under pressure, adapt when faced with challenges and most importantly I have learnt how to work both as an individual and as part of a medical team. Furthermore, being an Emergency care technician has afforded me the opportunity to provide adequate and accessible emergency medical services the community and this has given me the satisfaction of working with and helping others, which ultimately is my life goal. I now feel confident enough to step forward in my professional career and gain advanced knowledge in emergency medical care.
I have applied for the bridging course towards B-tech in Emergency Medical care because with this qualification I will be able to do more and therefore provide better medical services to the patients. This qualification will be the first step toward personal and professional growth. Furthermore, having a B-tech qualification will open endless possibilities for professional development, for example I could work as an operational paramedic, or go into research or even teach. This will make it easier to stay in the field despite life changes. I understand that being an emergency medical personnel involves working long hours

My introduction to emergency room nursing was during my senior year as a nursing student, as a patient care technician. Even though some days were trying and there was a lot of learning to be had, I almost immediately knew this is where I belonged. I have continued my career in the emergency department, where I have been working as a registered nurse for 5 years. During my career I have performed in many different roles, including patient care technician, new graduate nurse, staff nurse, triage nurse, preceptor and mentor for students and new employees, and even the role of charge nurse. The challenges of working in a high volume emergency department, caring for a diverse and complex patient population have been abundant. Emergency nursing is my passion and I am driven by the opportunity to expand my knowledge base and nursing practice.…

In order to improve the process in dealing with this specific incident changes must be made to implement a new process in order to better deal with these situations in the future. The first step would be to develop a team that is specifically trained to handle these emergent situations. Each member should have a specific role designated to them to know their specific tasks that should be handled during the emergency response. Once the team is developed, special training should be given to better educate the team members in dealing with these patients. Once each member is confident in their training and knowing their role, the team will be ready and prepared to handle any future situations.…

An Emergency Medical Technician’s job is to offer a second chance for someone, and they hope they can fix all one’s issues before moving on to the next patient. But, what if there are too many patients to fix each one of their issues, and you are by yourself. Welcome to the world of a mass casualty incident and triage, where life or death decisions are made. I was still training to become a basic EMT. My friends and I were quite confident in our skills, especially since we were three days from graduation, but then we had to undergo the most grueling simulation, Triage. Triage broke everyone’s confidence and made us all rethink the way we act and treat patients.…

In any court case, whether reality or fictional, it is always important for the prosecution to establish a motive for the defendant for the crime in question. Without a strong motive, it is relatively difficult to prove the defendant’s guilt. The system of emergency medicine is often abused. From 911 calls, to visits at an emergency room (ER) we are experiencing an overload of non-emergency patients, causing the systems to become backed up and consuming money and time from all people involved. This abuse largely stems from the general public not being properly educated with the true functions of the system. Thus, seeking alternate systems would be beneficial in several ways.…

When I was a young child, I witnessed my sister receiving stitches on her head. We were jumping on my bed when she fell and hit her head on the headboard. I was inspired by the medical professionals who treated her. Although this was a traumatic experience, it helped shape my aspiration to help others. Serving and improving the lives of others is a fundamental duty that I believe should be a part of everyone’s personal mission. Working in healthcare is the path that I discovered as an ideal way to accomplish this goal of service. In particular, I intend to eventually become an anesthesiologist where I will assist patients during medical procedures.…
