Complete the following matrix. When presenting real world examples, do not use the examples listed in the text.

Instinct Theories
Behaviors occurring in response to internal cues.
Natural instincts such as laughing, fear. Being scared of high places.
This occurs without thinking to do something with our minds. Instinct allows us to respond without thought.
Evolutionary Theories
Motives that affect society over time; evolving behaviors that have been passed on throughout time.
Traditions, the way we use things, how we eat, what we eat, our ways of survival.

Drive Theories
Tension causes us to take action to reduce unpleasant feelings. Not being able to find a job can inspire you to go back to school and gain more skills to get a job can be an example.

Arousal Theories
A theory that states that we are tempted to fulfill a satisfying level of arousal.
Sitting around the house all day with no excitement can cause you to get out the house and do something walk, go to a movie or whatever it takes to satisfy your boredom.

Incentive Theories
Reward or payoff for things we have done.
We work and we get paid. “ do good for others and good will come to you.”

Hierarchical Theories

Satisfying needs from level to level depending on completion of the previous level needs.
The everyday things we do to take care of our bodies and support our mental health.

Many psychologists have developed theories and study the behaviors of individuals to determine the motivators that cause certain behaviors.     The famous person that I chose to write about is Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford started off as a cabinetmaker. He did this job for fifteen years, just to make sure that he was able to pay his bills and put food on the table every day. Harrison Ford worked as a stagehand for The Doors, he built sound studios for Sergio Mendes, and he made cabinets for George Lucas. At the time George Lucas was not a well-known producer like he is now and he was producing the film American Graffiti.
