Moral Effects Of Pornography Essay
The moral argument must be addressed before an examination of the effects of pornography usage. Pornography usage cannot be rightly argued as morally bad/evil. For an action to be classified as morally evil, there must be proven, an initiation of force. By this definition, it is easy to see why one cannot paint all pornography, everywhere with the same broad brush. A mutually consenting adult couple filming their private acts and distributing them can scarcely be lumped into the same category as child pornography. Even if we look at the usage of morally neutral pornography, can we equate somebody consuming it once a week to someone consuming it once a day?
Morally, yes! Neither involves an initiation of force.
So we move into an examination of the physical health effects and we enter further gray areas. This paper will not examine these physical effects as they are under studied, presumably due to the lack of an adequate control group (adults who do not consume pornography).
This paper examines the psychological effects. Here lies the greatest area of contention. Does frequent pornography use cause emotional problems for its users? The short answer is yes, but pornography is not the true cause.
