Moonrise Kingdom Essay
Moonrise Kingdom

Moonrise Kingdom is a movie about an orphan named Sam and a girl named Suzy who fall in love and run away from home, ( however Sam does not have a home do to the fact that he is an orphan ).

I like how it explains the life of Sam, a boy scout whose foster parents ent him back to the orphanage, and Suzy. Suzy is a “troubled” child with anger issues and a love of her kitten.

Jared Gilman, Sam, does a great job showing the pain of being an orphan. Kara Hayward, Suzy, also did a wonderful job expressing her emotions about how her parents treat her. Bill Murray plays as suzy’s father. He and Frances McDormand, Suzy’s mother, did a good job showing the pain they felt that their daughter had run away, and the anger that she

Though a narrative about children, Moonrise Kingdom addresses adult issues of love (or the lack thereof), newfound sexuality, infidelity, parenting, identity, and the sense of belonging. Sam and Suzy, traversing through the wilderness, equally must navigate the rocky terrain of their own maturation while finding their place in the complicated adult…

This story, in all honesty, did not entertain me or stimulate intriguing thoughts. I felt like the author gave a lot of his time to describe the scene and the appearance of characters that there was nothing really going on. I spent most of my time while reading trying to figure out or thinking what certain things looked like rather than anticipating what may be happening next. Overall this story did not engage me nor hold my interest. I did on the other hand find the way Sammy’s attitude to toward the girls rather baffling because here are these three girls, two of which he mentions are overweight and not on the attractive side, and then “Queenie” whom he points out is too pale but yet in a sense “eye candy”. It was strange how he felt a pull towards them as soon as he noticed them and felt the need to quit his job and become their self proclaimed hero. Was he just as strange or just someone who really needs the attention?…

When people look at two extremely different stories such as Night and Life is Beautiful, they would not expect there to be many similarities. However, these two devastating tales are more alike than suspected. Both Night and Life is Beautiful may be two accounts of the holocaust, but that does not mean that they bring the same thing to the table. They both may include a somewhat similar father-son relationship, yet they still aren’t that same. Night, a tragic memoir of Eliezer Wiesel, and Life is Beautiful, a humorous and still somewhat depressing movie of Guido and his family, have numerous similarities as well as drastic differences between them.…

Sammy tells the story as if it is just another day while the life-changing event unfolds in a manner of minutes. He gives insight about the town by giving short character descriptions that are revealing, not only of each character, but also of Sammys feelings about the town, the people in it, and his personal perspective on the life that he is living there. Although the character descriptions paint a negative picture, the negativity has more to do with Sammys thought of living in this town with these characters for much more of his young life.
