Moon Rocks Persuasive Speech
The Moon Rock
It was a normal day August 19, 2003 in Australia. There were two twins named John and Matt, Ages between 13 to 14, with blue and green eyes sitting in their basement looking through a telescope without a blink. They challenge each other that the next rock that is headed towards the earth’s surface will be either a shooting star or an asteroid. “I pick that shooting star is the next rock heading towards earth,” Matt says with verve and confident. “Guess what, I pick that asteroid is the next rock heading towards earth,” John says with aggression.
They waited for hours and hours until there was this sparkly thing they saw entering the earth’s atmosphere almost a 1000 mph. In the morning John and Matt go questing for the strange

In early July of 1947, most likely around July 4th or 5th, something crashed to the Earth in the high desert of eastern New Mexico (Carey & SChmitt, 2009). Mac Brazel, a ranch hand on the J.B. Foster ranch, went to check on his sheep one morning after a series of severe thunderstorms. He was concerned about the wellbeing of his cattle because he heard a very loud explosion the night before during the storm. Upon riding out to the pastures, Brazel discovered a huge amount of strange debris scattered across the fields. Not knowing what this strange debris was, Brazel gathered some of it and showed it to his friends…

It was January 23, 1974 a nice, cool evening. Nothing was wrong in Chester, England. But then, bright green lights appeared in the sky. Then about two hours later, two people named Anne Williams, and Huw Lloyd had different approaches to the object. But they both experienced the same crash that night at 8:38 p.m.…

Hey Xoe, please talk to your following about Standing Rock. More people need to know about what’s happening, because it’s horrible. It seems as though our native people are losing once again. Police are tormenting them on their land. I’m not sure if you know about what is happening, but I feel like it’s important to know, or to educate as many people as possible on the subject. A short summary of this situation would be that there is a an oil pipeline being put through the Standing Rock reservation in North and South Dakota. If you didn’t know oil pipelines have high rates of leaking which would cause the Native Americans living there not be able to use the natural water sources such a lake and rivers. The pipes also will most likely exploded,…

"Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.” This famous quote was said by Neil Armstrong when he and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon. This was an accomplishment that will live on forever in the hearts of the American citizens on July 20, 1969. Ever since that day many people envisioned humans traveling the cosmos, pushing our limits, and making our mark in the universe. That was more than 40 years ago and today there has been a lack of motivation or initiative to do what was once viewed as the need to spread our species out into the stars before the inevitable death of our planet. NASA’s budget has seen cuts over the years and recently has had the need to call upon private companies to further their space programs so they can still…

February 2013, asteroid 2012 DA14 is plummeting towards Earth. My science class at Crestwood Junior High was chatting about this amazing phenomenon. Most of the class is just counting down the minutes until the bell rings. But I had just started my journey through the unknown, that is still going on today. Wanting to learn all I can about spacecrafts, planets, asteroids, and the many other things around us. From some of the first spacecrafts, all the way to cool technologies that never came to be. Just like the Dyna-Soar spaceplane that was canceled just before building started. This space age style journey has been going on for more than three years. Over just three short space filled years, I have accumulated two telescopes,…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

Attention Getter: I would like to start my presentation off by telling you all to ask yourselves a series of fairly straight forward questions. I want you to take a look at you’re, any hand and ask your selves “Who’s hand is this?” Do the same with your other hand, and now both legs and your arms if you would like. If I am not mistaking the answer to all your questions are mine right. They are your hands, legs, and arms. What I am trying to get through to you all today is that your body is your body and that a person should be able to profit of his or her own body if done in a safe and controlled way.…

PERSUASIVE SPEECH OUTLINE SAMPLE - MOTIVATED SEQUENCE PATTERN By Fui Oili (with modifications made by S. Pastor) TITLE: Vacation in Hawaii GENERAL PURPOSE: To persuade SPECIFIC PURPOSE (GOAL): To persuade my audience to choose to take a vacation to the neighbor islands before taking a vacation out of the state or country. GENERAL IDEA: Visitors come from all over the world to experience the beauty and adventure of Hawaii. However, many local residents haven’t had the opportunity to experience all that our islands have to offer. Instead of always travelling to the mainland for vacations, Hawaii residents should first experience the uniqueness of vacationing right here on a neighbor island. INTRODUCTION (Attention Step) I. (Attention getter): Over the PA system the agent announced the arrival of United flight 93 arriving from Los Angeles, California. I waited at the baggage claim entrance where I stood there holding my lei and sign with the names of the visitors I was to greet from their flight. As the people started to flow out of the doors I called out, “Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams”, all the while thinking about what I was going to cook for dinner and wondering what my kids were doing. When the visitors finally arrived, I was quickly brought back to my reality as I greeted each one with a lei and I said, “Aloha, welcome to Kauai.” With excited smiles on their faces they thanked me and told me how excited they were to be in Hawaii and how they couldn’t wait to start their vacation. The thing that really hit me was when they said, “You are so lucky you live in Hawaii!” Immediately I was reminded of how true that statement is. It’s ironic that it took a visitor from another part of the world to remind me that yes, Hawaii is an amazing place to explore, even for those of us who already live here. (Reveal Topic): This morning, I’d like to encourage all of you to seriously consider taking your next vacation on any of our Hawaiian islands instead of travelling out of…
