Moon Landing
In the Moon Landing exercise I am a member of a lunar exploration crew originally scheduled to rendezvous with a mother ship on the lighted surface of the moon. Due to mechanical difficulties however, our ship was forced to land at a spot 200 miles from the rendezvous point. During the re-entry and landing, much of the equipment aboard was damaged, and, since survival depends on reaching the mother ship, the most critical items available must be chosen for the 200 mile trip.
Our group was able to salvage 15 items left intact and undamaged after landing. I need to rank these items according to their importance in aiding you to reach the mother ship, starting with "1" the more important, to "15", the least important.
Step-1: As per instruction each member of our team individually ranked each item without discussing with each other until each member has finished the individual ranking and recorded under “Your Individual Ranking” column.
Steap-2: Under this process we have discussed our individual choices and ranked each item based on our collective thoughts and captured the group ranking under “Your Team Ranking”.
Step-3: As part of this process wrote down the correct ranks of each item, compiled by experts under column “Expert Rankings”.
Staep-4: Compare all our individual and group ranking with correct ranking, determined the score. For each item, we marked the number of points that our score differs from expert ranking and then add up all the points. Difference between individual ranking and correct ranking gives the Individual Error Score, whereas difference between group ranking and correct ranking reveals Team Error Score.
For our team calculated error scores are as follows: TOTAL ERROR SCORES | 1. Team Error score = 32 | A. Team Functioning (3-1) = 31 | 2. Average Individual Error Score = 48 | B. Team Synergy (2-1) = 16 | 3. Highest Individual Error score = 63 | C. Team Improvement (4-1) =2 | 4. Lowest Individual Error

When assessing the overall effectiveness of our discussion, our team score of 32 must also be considered—it was tied with Team 5 for the lowest in the class, while our average individual score of 56.4 was second in the class ranking. When we compare our team’s average individual score to the best individual score on our team (30), we see that there is a significant difference. Clearly there was one team member who was more in-line with the expert rankings of the survival tools than the rest of the team. This difference of 26.4 points was by far the greatest spread in the class. When looking at this spread along with our team’s percentage change, we may also conclude that this person made a positive impact on our discussions by helping to improve the team’s overall score.…

If you are shipwrecked on a deserted island, then it would be the best choice to choose bag three, which has a saucepan, three granola bars, and sunscreen. You see, my dad is the captain of the U.S. Navy and has survived on a deserted island, too, for 20 years until his friend came and rescued him. Because of his experience, I asked him which bag I should choose and told him the items in all three bags. He said that the most reasonable choice was bag three because the other bags had objects that you could make out of the island’s resources. Therefore, I suggest that you should trust me and choose bag three.…
