Monkey See Monkey Connect Analysis
Everything in the universe is connected in some way with an bonds. “Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Connect” by Frans de Waal“When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine” Jhumpa Lahiri and “With Friends like These” by Dorothy Rowe. In these texts bonds are formed by mimicry, similar worries, and solid friendships.
In the first test, “Monkey see, Monkey do, Monkey connect” by Frans De Waal, Bonds are formed by mimicry. Mimicry bonds are things like “running when other run, laughing when others laugh, crying when others cry, or yawning when other yawn” (de Wall 124). These kind of bonds are formed by lots of face to face interactions with another person. When one person is around another for along time one will start to mimic the other. As stated by Frans de Waal, “they become role models: We empathize with them and emulate them”. So one will become the role model and the other will start to act like them.
Also in “When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine”, by Jhumpa Lahiri, a different kind of bond is formed. The bonds made in this text are made by similar worries. “We need other people to tell us when we have got our guesses right, and when we get things wrong” (Rowe 142 ). This quote explains the sense of validation that friends provide. When a friend agrees or confirms something that has been said, it gives the other a sense of security and comfort. These bonds are formed to help solidate decisions. “Falling out with a friend shows us that our image of them, from which we derive our predictions about that friend is wrong” (Rowe 143). Sometimes picking real friends from fake ones is hard, but friends that have a similar individual life and have close to the same view on life as you, these are the people that are real
