Money Can Buy Happiness
"Happiness is a mental state of well-being characterized by positive emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy”. Notice that "happiness" is within the range of "contentment" to "intense joy." Every single thing in the world which brings contentment or joy costs money and therefore, it is money which brings happiness.

Nothing can be yours without money being spent either by the person experiencing this happiness, or by others spending money so that they can be happy. For example, even people who are contented with sustenance and covering will realize that both food and shelter costs money. Turn on the news and watch people dying of starvation, do they look happy? They appear to be quite sad. When the worms of hungry brought on by extreme poverty are eating at people, they tend to smile less. I certainly don't see them laughing and see their bones coming out of their chests. How many homeless people do we find acting extremely overjoyed? Not many. You can't be truly happy if you are constantly worried about what to eat and where to shelter or what to wear and if you can't afford such things it is natural to worry.

People say a very rich people can be unhappy, but surely it wasn't having money that made the rich people unhappy because thousands of quite happy individuals are rich, even amongst the very religious. Just because money brings happiness doesn't entail that once you have money there will not also be sources of sadness and misery that can rob us of that happiness. I think we need to establish the fact that there is more than one source of happiness, so let's not get into this nonsense about happiness coming only from God or religion. For example marriage is a source of happiness and many husbands can testify that their wives make them happy but this doesn't mean they can't get sick and that sickness can burden the family and bring a measure of sadness. If this rich guy used his money wisely, it would not become a source of unhappiness for him,

In an effort to answer this question, several conflicting views were examined and several individuals were interviewed who had financial windfalls to determine the effect that an increase in income had on their well-being. The findings initially appeared to suggest that money buys happiness to a degree. Upon further review however, the results are mixed. Several people who came into money due to lottery winnings or inheritance have gone broke because they didn’t have a plan in place to deal with the money. Others had more fun giving away most of their fortune to those they felt needed it more than they did. This paper will note the details behind these interviews and articles to better determine if there is actually an answer to the initial question, “Does Money Buy Happiness?”…

For centuries, mankind seeks to answer the question: Can money buy happiness? Therefore psychologists are exploring the relationship between wealth and happiness for decades. They came to the conclusion that money can make people happy if it involves moving from a state of extreme poverty into the middle class, but they do not have a noticeable impact in the future. It means that people feel glad and safe when they have enough of money to satisfy daily needs. It is important to understand, what really makes people happy besides the living routine. Jarod Kintz quotes “I think the key indicator for wealth is not good grades, work ethic, or IQ. I believe it is relationships. Ask yourself two questions: How many people do I know, and how much ransom money could I get for each one? ”I think it is safe to say happiness have many aspects. The real versions of well-being that plays out every day are the ones based upon an individual experience, perception and values.…

Happiness “that sense of warmth that begins at the core of the soul, spreads to the heart, and radiates outward from the eyes and lips of those who know it. The gift of happiness is elusive, but tangible. You cannot seek to find that which makes you happy for happiness comes from within and by your own choice.” (Mr. Dale Reddish, 2010). This is a rather eloquent interpretation of happiness that really gets to the heart of the argument; does money really buy happiness? The problem with most of the required reading is it is derived from survey data that uses a list of answers that is predetermined by the interviewer. That is where the social psychologist Hadley Cantril differed in his approach. Mr. Cantril understood the complexity of the question, and how people’s answers might vary throughout different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.…

“Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it,” is a quote that inventor and statesmen Benjamin Franklin said. Like many quotes and opinions there is always two sides to it. Some believe money can never buy happiness but others believe that money is a key necessity in life to be happy. I personally believe that money can buy happiness depending on how you use it for reasons like generally making life easier, having a peace of mind, and being able to live a stress free life. Although money cannot buy things like family nor true friends the concept of “having money” has a tendency to make people feel better about life.…

Many people believe that money brings happiness, these people are usually either low on money, or newly ‘rich’. The word ‘happy’ is defined by oxford dictionary as: “Feeling or showing pleasure or contentment” however happiness means different things to each individual person. Most people’s definition of happiness would include words along the lines of ‘love’ and ‘health’, and others may include ‘family’ ‘friends’ ‘belief’ ‘achievement’ these are all things that money does not give you, although receiving money can be an achievement sometimes, you have to work to get that money and it is the result of hard work paying off that brings the sense of achievement, not the promise of money. It is true that on average, people who have a house and can afford three meals a day will be happier than someone living on the streets, surviving off of food that they have found half eaten in the bins. However this does not mean that if you have more than what you need you will be happier. Many people think ‘if I’m happy with £20,000 pounds a year, then imagine how ecstatic it must be to earn £50,000 a year’ these people might then go on to earn £50,000 and they will probably find that it’s not as great as they first thought it would be, so they then set higher goals and when they reach those goals, they are disappointed again. If anything, their money has made them sadder because they have everything they wanted but are still not happy. They find it hard to believe that after all of their effort and all-nighters that they are still no happier…

There is an all-too-familiar saying that “money can’t buy happiness”. While this statement is false according to many individuals, a large handful of them believe it to be true. When you think about it though, does money truly buy happiness for a person, or is it all a façade foreshadowing disappointment? Money is a paper mask that covers up happiness like a bandage. It buys temporary happiness, the kind that lasts only a short while, before it begins to crumble. Just because an individual is rich does not mean they are happy.…
