This proposal provides a guide to properly integrating culturally diverse business models to international business acquisitions. When the Roaring Dragon Hotel (RDH) needed improvements, Hotel International (HI) was brought in to make the changes. HI’s approach was not sensitive to local customs and cultural norms. While employees needed to become more productive, HI’s motivation methods were not as successful as expected. This proposal will address this issue while providing recommendations on improving communication with HI managers and current employees at the RDH. It will also analyze the importance of including current RDH leaders in the new management style. Breaking language barriers and taking current RDH leaders’ opinions into consideration will provide for a well-rounded administration. By keeping these recommendations, HI can provide a working environment where RDH staff feels empowered and a part of the team.…

FedEx realized they would not be able to maneuver their typical operations management techniques they had been used to (Wiley Media, 2011). Originally, FedEx got the inputs and the transformation process was implemented. The inputs became outputs and fulfilled the organizations plans and goals. This had to change. Instead of concentrating on the overnight flights of packages, FedEx decided to look more locally as to what to do. They became concentrated on organizations such as Amazon.com who is doing a tremendous business and can afford to pay a large amount overall but a cheaper amount individually.…

I remember when I worked on a swing shift from 3:00 pm to midnight that Friday nights were something to behold. I would personally see a marked increase in employee productivity on the shift when I would offer something so small as leaving work two hours early. Since we were all military personnel, we still received the same amount of money regardless if we were on duty the full shift or not, so in reality this time off would be considered a noncash reward. “Recent studies show that employees respond better to noncash rewards and other incentives than they do to an extra injection of moolah” (Vaccaro, 2013, para. 2). Why is this? Could it be that time is more valuable to people than money in a sense? To many, yes it is. “More important, other research suggests that noncash incentives produce a greater measurable boost in productivity than cash does (Vaccaro, 2013, para. 2). One private sector example involves Effective Environmental which is a Texas-based environmental services organization (Vaccaro, 2013). Each year, they provide five employees an all-inclusive family vacation chosen from nominees in each of their divisions and it is based on who management believes has given the best effort on the job (Vaccaro,…

The Issue: In the past couple of weeks, buzz has been generated about the possibility of changing the current Mod System. Some are open to changes being made while others are adamantly against it. The current system has gone unaltered for many years, due to the fact that nobody had felt a need for making changes. As a student, I believe that the system runs smoothly as is, and do not feel any desire for it to be changed.…
