However, it is connected to my sister's life because her marriage was fixed as arranged marriage. Even though it was arranged my parents give her one whole year to think about it and talk to the guy and get to know him and then make the decision. Now she is jubilant about the decision my parents made for her by choosing the guy and letting her know about him before marriage. The primary focus of this paper is to explain different concepts of forced and arranged marriage. Most of the people assume forced and arranged marriage is the same thing. Arranged marriages have been an integral part of Indian society for centuries, and even today people having their marriages planned by their parents and other respected family-members, with the consent of the bride and groom, does occur. Arranged matches were made after taking into account factors such as the compatibility of the couples' horoscopes, the backgrounds of their families (wealth, social standing) and their castes. The institution of marriage in India is considered a very important one. Thus, parents felt that since they were older and wiser than their progeny, they would be able to find a suitable match for their children with more prudence than the latter. Although the institution of arranged marriage has been witnessing a downward trend in metropolitan India, it is still prevalent in rural areas.…

A clear difference between Western and a non-western culture is that Western cultures have large urban centre and a high social and geographical mobility. This means that the voluntarily come into contact with a large number of strangers, who are potential partners on a daily basis. However Non Western cultures are the opposite, they do not have many urban centres and have a small geographical mobility, mean that they have less opportunity to meet new people. Meeting new people/ potential partners is usually due to family or economics. In some cultures when mobility is reduced arranged marriages make good sense. Studies of divorce rates found that the divorce rate of arranges marries were very low. Other studies of arranged marriages found that there was no difference in marriage satisfaction of women from china in arranged marriages and women in the US, from non-arranged marriages. This shows that although in some cultures arranged marriages are frowned upon, in some cultures that may be the best option. However some cultures, such as China have seen a dramatic drop in the amount of arranged marriages. The number of arranged marriages fell from 70% in 1949 to just 10% in the 1990’s, research also found that the marriage satisfaction of the women in china form non arranged marriages was much higher than the women from arranged marriages. This shows that although in some cultures arranged marriages are the best option, in other they are not.…

Everyone knows how hard it is to find a mate for marriage. Having said that, each person is free to decide how the mate selection will take place. Some people would rather conduct this selection by themselves, without any help, while others prefer to get help from someone else, like their parents or a matchmaker. Before continuing it is wise to make a distinction between the traditional arranged marriage and the modern definition of an arranged marriage. The arranged marriages that happen by tradition in parts of Africa, most of Asia and a good portion of Eastern Europe are determined by the parents without the consent of the future couple. The modern view is very different from traditional view. Today's definition makes a distinct emphasis on choice, courtship and convenience. In most instances it is a service, provided by an agency, or a good friend. The purpose is to find a compatible mate, with the greatest number of similarities and the same primary objective: marriage. This text will compare and contrast some of the advantages and disadvantages of today's version of the arranged marriage.…

    The Best Age to Married

    • 348 Words

Laws states that the age that the men can get married is 20 and women is 18. As for me, it is not the best age to get married. I think the best age to get married is around 25 to 30. At these ages, people are mature enough in their thought and have a stable job because it helps them in future and also in society. Generally, young persons who graduate from universities are at the age of around 22 to 23. After that, they have to take time to find a job. They need to spend many years to get experiences, to strengthen their relationship with others, to take their positions in work, and to have high salary. At this time, I think that it’s the perfect time to think about family because they may have enough money to earn their life, fully independent from their parents and having own decisions to solve difficulty problems themselves. Furthermore, at the age of around 25 to 30 they are mature enough to give birth, to bring up and to take care of their children . If they get married after the age of 30, it is not good for a woman to have a baby. According to the research of American Society for Reproductive Medicine, from 30 onwards the fertility of women starts to decline. This decline is relatively gradual for the next years and the amount of the hormone testosterone of the men (the necessary for the growth of sperm) began to decline in the male body and the scientific research shows that it will badly affect to the children in the future if their mothers are pregnant at the age more than 30. Therefore, when they have a stable career and success in life, the best age they should get married is around 25 to…

Marriage means sharing a life together, loving each other and the most important thing that couples should be aware of is the responsibility that comes with it. Early marriages are sometimes forced but young adults who are getting married out of choice should be informed of personal and health issues. Getting married at a young age has negative effects to it, for instance it can cause a quick divorce and that is because the couple might be immature and may have compatibility issues. Some young people think that getting married at a young age can give them more freedom and a better life than before, which is wrong. Because of these reasons parents should advice their sons and daughters not to get married at a young age and must prevent them from doing so because it is going to affect their future. There are several problems a couple can face when marriage happens at an early age. A few of the effects of early marriage are communication problems, may not have the ability to raise a child, financial problems, education problems and not having enough time to communicate with their families and friends.…

Through talks, seminars and workshop we can instill a sense of responsibility and awareness to teenagers. This way we can emphasize them to avoid free sex which is both harmful and immoral. Free sex is dangerous as it can spread diseases to both individuals such as HIV and AIDS. We should also educate them about the hefty punishment on abandoning babies and having free sex in this country. By doing this, hopefully we can make them think not twice but ten times before doing any of these. Keeping a healthy life is also vital in…
