Mistakes Should Be Allowed
“Mistakes make you realize what you had, what you lost and what you’ve taken for granted. They make you realize that sometimes there are no next times no timeouts and no second chances… but life is a work in progress as long as we live, we have every chance to correct.” If you make a mistake it shows you what you what you’ve taken as granted and maybe there will be no second chances but as you live you can correct the mistakes. Giving someone a second chance you teach them something that would benefit them when they try to fix their mistake. In summary, I believe you should give someone a second chance because you can teach them a lesson, they can help someone else that is going through the same thing you were going through, and help them get back on track with their life. Cole Matthews had been in trouble with the law half of his life, he had gone to an island with no other people hoping to change. He went to the island and came back because his own ignorance almost got him killed, he realized that he had the fur from the Spirit Bear in his pocket. Instead of showing everyone proof that the bear was real, which the old Cole would have done, he dropped it into the water. He did this because he didn’t want to rely on physical proof, he needed to rely on the truth so that he can gain the trust of people. Giving people second chances means that they can change themselves either little at a time or all at once. By getting a second chance Cole because more considerate and caring for other people and put them first, rather than always putting himself first. Cole Matthews wouldn’t have been the same person he is at the end of the book if he didn’t get a second chance. Peter, a boy Cole beat up before changing, came to the island to learn from Cole. Cole showed Peter how to carve a totem pole and carry the the ancestor
