Mission statement: The mission statement is an overarching, timeless expression of your purpose and aspiration, addressing both what you seek to accomplish and the manner in which the organization seeks to accomplish it. It’s a declaration of why you exist as an organization.…
During my nursing career, I have worked at a number of different hospitals doing my very best on providing excellent quality of care to patients. I am currently working as a nurse for Health Services of LA County. According to Health Services of Los Angeles County mission statement, their goals is to “ensure access to high-quality, patient-centered, cost-effective health care to Los Angeles County residents through direct services at DHS facilities and through collaboration with community and university partners”. The UCLA Department of Nursing mission statement is to “Transform the Patient Experience through care that is delivered as a partnership among the patient, their family, the physicians, nurses, and other…
They direct and coordinate care in the hospital setting and attempt to achieve great patient care. The patient population is getting older and sicker prior to coming the hospital. More nurses are needed to meet the needs of this aging patient population (American Association of College of Nursing, 2017). The hospital leaders have agreed to form a vision, mission, and values of the institution that is centered on patient care. High quality patient care is dependent on the adequate number of nurses to take care of the patients. Nurses should be given the chance to provide high quality care that is centered on the patient. Hospitals should make the sure enough nurses are available to achieve the common goal of high-quality patient centered…
The hospital where I have dedicated my twelve year nursing career has gone through a massive change. When I started working there in 1999, it was a small, independent 168 bed community not-for-profit hospital. The expectations of healthcare today were and continue to be a costly venture to a non-corporate facility, which is why the hospital was struggling financially. It simply could not meet the needs of the growing community. As a result, it was purchased by a corporate healthcare entity based in North Carolina that owned several other hospitals. This merger brought about massive changes to the community hospital. Their policies, practices, benefits and overall mission and vision have been redefined. The introduction of the newly adopted mission, “We exist to improve the health of communities, one person at a time” (Novant health, n.d.) and, the vision, “We, the employees and our physician partners, will deliver the most remarkable patient experience, in every dimension, every time” (Novant health, n.d.) were one of the first initiatives undertaken. In alignment with this new vision, the culture of the community hospital was going to have to change.…
Be the teacher I would want my own child to have. This was my motivation and driving force throughout my entire studies at Walden University. I can stand before you today and say with one hundred percent certainty that I am now the teacher that I would want my own child to have. As I began my journey with the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership, one of our first assignments was to read the college’s mission. As I read the mission, I remember wondering how an online program was going to prepare me to become a teacher who inspires and influences my students. I now understand that Walden University gave me the tools and knowledge to look deep within myself and my own teaching. Those tools have helped me become that teacher who is able to inspire and influence students.…

I think Coca-Cola’s mission statement is a little untraditional compared to the ones in chapter 2. The examples in the book are a sentence long and more condensed then Coca-Cola’s. Theirs is a little more lengthy and detailed. However, in the sense of a market-oriented definition, I think the statement does clarify what the organization wishes to accomplish. The bullet points are catchy and motivating. The words “refresh”, “inspire”, “optimism”, “happiness”, and “value” all are positive terms.…
