Course Description

This course is an English language proficiency test course designed for students of English to familiarize themselves with the TOEFL and develop their test taking skills. The TOEFL test is a required admission test for international students enrolling in most American universities, but also is a proficiency test utilized by universities around the world to test the proficiency of English majors. The format of the three forms of the TOEFL including the Paper & Pencil test, the Computer-Based test (CBT), and the Internet-Based test (iBT) formats will be compared and contrasted. The course includes practice exercises from two sections of the iBT including the Listening and Reading sections. Sample tests will be administered periodically during the class. A format and test strategies and English proficiency test will also be administered. Class discussions will include topics such as strategies for preparing for the TOEFL, strategies for test day, and general test taking strategies for answering all types of questions on the TOEFL. The nature and types of test questions will be reviewed and discussed during the course.

    The Sculpture of David that Michelangelo’s sculpture represents David victory of the tyrant Goliath and it also supposed to represent the Republican Florence. There was lost of the citizens that were not pleased with the nudity on the sculpture so they started to throw rocks at the sculpture, with this taking place they had to pay in order to watch over it. There was a skirt that was made and cover the David’s mid-section. When the nude descending, the stairway artwork, it brought a lot of controversy among American, when it was shown in the first Amory Showing 1913. There was a nude woman walking down the stairs, even though Duchamp did not pose a nude lady. There were many of peoples that had look at Duchamp sculpture think that it was disrespectful to the audiences. There was many of peoples thought that it was very hard to interpret so therefore they found it very hard to appreciate the abstraction. Duchamp motivated to create the art stop motion photography, or stroboscopic photography, was Muybridge’s book animal locomotion containing multiple picture of nude women. Duchamp used the ideas to paint the Nude Descending a Stair, because he was so impressed by the movement used in those photographs. There was lots of appreciation by artist and their work, after lots of thoughts that were behind the two pieces of arts. I think that the statue of David by Michelangelo it’s very easier to understand, as someone that don’t look at art, bit I knew actually what it was when I first saw it. There is a reason and understanding why Duchamp painted his piece e of art even thought it was hard to locate the woman figures within the painting. When there’s more information about piece of art, they will appreacted the artist and get a better meaning of a piece of art.…
