Miss Brill's Loneliness
Miss Brill enjoys visiting the park which reveals her personality as lonely, optimistic and disapproving.
Miss Brill’s loneliness is shown when she goes over to Jardins Publiques to take a stroll by herself. She is observant on how many people are out this afternoon, and the band that is playing. “Only two people share her special seat: a fine old man in a velvet coat…”, she describes the old man as “fine” showing us that she is by herself whereas if she was sitting with her companion she would of just said, “an old man in a velvet coat”. Everyone she sees is in two’s, “Two young girls in red, two young soldiers in blue, two peasant women”, where she is by herself as one other than her fur scarf as her companion reveals loneliness. The old couple that sat down beside her is replaced by a younger couple, “they were beautifully dressed; they were in love”, what could of been if Miss Brill had gotten married she would of been the young couple before and an old couple now. …show more content…
She enjoys watching the band play and everything that is going on she observes watching in the park shows her optimism. “Such a funny old man with long whiskers…was nearly knocked over by four girls walking a breasts”, she sees everything as a play in her eyes, her visits to Jardins Publiques are cheerful because she gets to pretend that she is actually watching a play and she is even part of
