Who do game designers and developers create games for? Seems like an obvious question right? Game designers create games for consumers, for gamers. Yet typically gamers are not very involved in the process. These are people who are experts in their field, who know what they want and are a resource that is mostly untapped. There is one game where this is entirely not the case however. The game in question is called Minecraft. This is not the case in Minecraft. Notch and other Mojang employees poststo social media sites and respond to questions and comments quite frequently. They always seem eager to hear what players want and always seem ready for suggestions. There are in fact many portions of the game that are literally popular requests taken from fans. Snow golems, a friendly monster in the game were actually a request from a little boy who visited Mojang’s studio (Minecraft Forums). In addition there is basic information about each product currently in development by the studio. This is an important and useful factor as it shows the growth of the company.
