We are third (or fourth) year students, so you can say that everybody knows how to work in a project group. However, this doesn’t mean that everybody will act like that. Sometimes there are people in a group who are less motivated then others, or people who are dealing with personal problems. Everybody has their own role/function within the project. To make sure everybody performs…
I have to say I honestly felt hesitant to do the partner project in the beginning due to my bad experiences working in groups in the past. Thankfully this experience was a total success, which has changed my outlook on group projects. Hannah was a joy to work with not only because she is a great writer but also because she is a great person. I had never actually written a full length research paper with another individual, and I think this also allowed me to be somewhat hesitant to the idea. Hannah and myself decided to talk about the fascinating story of “The Ministers Black Veil”, and we were able to construct an amazing research paper from the text. Nathaniel Hawthorne allows his readers to become so involved in his writing, which inhibits…
2. Group work activities and projects support student learning by having us learn with our peers as an additional option besides learning from the course materials and the professor. Learning with our peers also helps us learn together as a real class because we will get to interact with each other.…
The Health Fair Presentation project was one of my favorite assignments so far in my college career. I have never really been a fan of group projects because there is rarely an even work distribution; and being the student that I am, I usually end up doing the most work. However, this was not the case in my groups project. We all did a fairly even amount of work. Our group started out with four people, which is already a smaller group compared to some other, and one student dropped the course half way into the project so we ended up doing our project in a group of three. There were five jobs to split up and we all picked up the slack to make sure the project was done on time, and done well.…
Mindfulness, for this study, was measured utilizing The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), where athletes rated how often they had experiences such as, “I find it difficult to stay focused on what’s happening in the present (Gooding & Gardner 2009).” The athletes free throw percentages were then tracked over the course of the following season. Results indicated that levels of mindfulness significantly predicted game free throw percentage. Therefore, the more mindful the athlete, the higher their respective free throw percentage.…
I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Others had to be pushed for ideas and tended to go along with what the others thought was a good decision even if they might not have agreed. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies. I particularly didn’t like the idea of giving each person something different to do, only because some in the group didn’t really care about the project as much as others and I felt they weren’t trying their best on their part. It might have been better in my opinion to work…
The purpose of the group projects is to give students an opportunity to explore course topics in greater depth, conduct independent research, and apply their knowledge in a practical context. Student groups will prepare and present a project based on one of the following prompts.…
Groups are made u of individuals with varying personalities, backgrounds and ideas. For a group to work well a bond needs to be developed. Every group needs a leader and each member should feel a sense of belonging, a reason and purpose for their presence in the group. Each and every group experience will have a different lesson that can be learned whether good or bad.…
If my next class has group projects, I think I am better prepared in how the process can go and how to handle certain situations due to what I have learned in this class. Group projects are all based on how well you can click and work together in a group.…

Habitually, many of us walk through our everyday life unaware; some of us even feel like a work zombie. Maybe it is a time for us to learn more about the psychology of deeper living. Which is a psychology with many applications that teaches us about the depths of enjoyment, contentment and the meaningfulness that can be achieved through engagement with everyday life.…
In the books titled Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, twelve different virtues are brought up and thoroughly described. In fact even a contemporary society could learn valuable lessons from any of the twelve virtues and apply them to present day to fix certain issues. For Aurelius loyalty to the principles of wisdom is the most important virtue. It is the fourth virtue he writes about and it may also be the most impactful virtue he discusses. Aurelius says “mankind are poor, transitory things; one day in life, and the next turned to ashes.” It is this idea and perspective that Aurelius tries to express throughout many of the other virtues he writes about in Meditations. Currently in the United States of America, there is a possibility that the federal government will shutdown. This issue could be resolved if lessons from Aurelius’ books were understood and applied to best solve the problem at hand.…
Initially the prospect of working as part of a group for the first assignment was unnerving and I can fully understood why it is “one of the most emotionally charged areas of university life”1, I also felt nervous about working as part of a group because, like other students, I “did not want my grade based on the effort – or lack of effort – of other people”2. However, after thinking about the concept of group work my opinion changed slightly as I feel that my first assignment would have been more daunting working independently as “group work offers support and tasks are easier when they are shared”. My past experiences of group work have not been overly successful or pleasant…
Many aspects of life shape an individual’s identity, and one’s culture plays an especially huge role in it. Different from the concept of self, identity is developed within an individual and is an individual’s self-conception of himself. The reason that identity can create anxiety and uncertainty is that people might judge based on stereotypes and pre-determined frameworks (Dai, 2009). Although these stereotypes can be both positive and negative, it often comes with a stigma and creates stresses for the individual. It is tightly linked to AUM because as mentioned, anxiety can be caused by conceptions for oneself. Through successful communication cross-culturally, it does not only allow for the individuals to have a positive identity, but also…
Even though physical exercise is a main part of yoga, it is important to understand the participant's mental process. Mindfulness approaches, such as yoga can work by using intervention strategies that are similar to cognitive behavioral therapists, and this can promote positive changes by changing schemas related to emotion, health, and illness (Bonura & Tenenbaum, 2014). It was shown in the study that self-control increased more among yoga participants than in exercise or control group participants. The author also stated that the improved self-control in yoga participants in this study shows that even beginners with limited training can benefit from the positive changes.…
