Military Appearance and Uniform
MILITARY UNIFORM AND APPERANCE

In my essay I will research on the Military Uniform and Appearance. I will also research on the AR 670-1.This will help me understand and value more the importance of the uniform that I ware and it will be helpful in future reference in my military career. In my essay I will do some comparison from our military appearance and uniforms from other types of jobs that also use uniforms and have different standards that sets us apart from the everyday use of a regular uniform.

In everyday life we see people wearing uniforms to be identify in the job that they do an the Army has the uniform to show that a member wearing it is a soldier and that’s what makes it so important. An Army uniform is actually described in Army regulations and Federal law allows military uniforms to be only worn by persons serving in the military. Uniforms tell you not only that a person belongs to a certain group but also that person has skills other people don’t. A police officer is only allowed to wear this uniform if he/she has completed specific training. A nurse is only allowed to wear this uniform if they have completed nursing school. You wouldn’t ask a police officer to perform open heart surgery and you wouldn’t ask a doctor to arrest someone. Think of doctors, nurses, police, firemen and soldiers. A uniform, as opposed to a costume, is clothing of a certain type, style, and make up that is required by the organization the person belongs to. An Army uniform is actually described in Army regulations and Federal law allows military uniforms to be only worn by persons serving in the military.

People in the armed services are different from other people. The army uniform tells you that the person wearing it belongs to a specific country and organization: The United States Army. This means the person wearing it has taken an oath to the government of the United States to defend the nation, even if it means they might get hurt

Sad as it might seem, uniforms are only stimulating commercial interests. They are not solving the concerns that they are geared for. In fact, numerous companies treat the uniform system as a major source of profit. After all, Americans give out a whopping $1 billion dollars every year just for uniforms! While the profits that come from uniforms help grow the American economy, they don’t support it the right way. Consumers – sadly, the low-income ones – suffer a lot because of these high costs and commercial interests. You wouldn’t want the poor to get the poorer, and the rich to get richer – especially if it’s the wrong, selfish…

The purpose of Army Regulation 670-1 as stated in chapter 1 paragraph 1-1 is as follows. “This regulation prescribes the authorization for wear, composition, and classification of uniforms, and the occasions for wearing all personal, (clothing bag issue), optional, and commonly worn organizational Army uniforms. It also prescribes the awards, insignia, and accouterments authorized for wear on the uniform, and how these items are worn. General information is also provided on the authorized material, design, and uniform quality control system.” The book answer to the purpose of the regulation only goes so far. If you look further into the regulation it states that the United States Army is a uniformed service that is judged, in part, by the way a soldier wears their uniform. This being said, if a soldier wears their uniform in a manner which is not clean and neat in appearance, and portrays the army poorly, the members of the United States Army would be viewed in a poor and undisciplined manner. Whereas if the members of the United States Army hold themselves to a higher standard, and maintain a neat and clean appearance, the members of the uniformed service will be viewed by the outside world as an organization which personifies what discipline is supposed to be. While we are on the subject of discipline, I think it would be good to explore it and it’s relation to the importance of Army Regulation 670-1. Discipline is one of the cornerstones of the United States Army. Discipline can set you above and beyond everyone else, and it can help you excel in everything you do. What is…

When parents send their child to school they want to know that their child is going to be safe and shouldn’t have to worry if there kid is going to get picked on because of what they are wearing. That leads me to a bigger problem and another reason why all public schools should require uniforms is bullies. Bullies usually pick on other people because of what they are wearing. Bullies shouldn’t pick one someone because everyone would look the same. Uniforms are a good solution so there will be a bully free zone. School uniforms can help school administrators provide security for their students. Uniforms can get rid of distractions and allow students to focus more. As a student every student can easily get distracted in the classroom and there can be students who wear revealing or inappropriate clothing and that can cause a big distraction. Uniforms are also a good way to show that the school is put together and taking pride in the school. Now we all wonder what the reason why public schools have uniforms is. In the 1980`s public schools were sometimes compared to catholic schools. Seeing the benefits that uniforms had in catholic schools most public schools decided to have a school uniform policy. President Clinton is also the reason why public schools have uniforms. In 1996 he provided a school uniform movement where in a speech he stated “if it means teenagers will stop killing each other over…

How to wear the army uniform is important because when we put on the uniform we don’t just represent ourselves but the army as a whole as well. One thing I have learned in my short 20 years of life is how important the clothes you wear impact you as person. Because they can be tell tell sings of what type of person you are. As in the book “APPERANCES” witch talks about how the clothes you wear can say a lot of what type of person you are, or how do you live your lifestyle. When I was a little boy I would always watch how a few of my neighbors, which were in…

The first reason why uniforms should be the dress code for public school is that it creates a sense of equality among the many diverse students. If the student wears a uniform, they won’t be able to notice the difference between the rich students or poor students; therefore it could improve a student’s self-esteem. The uniform also eliminates students wearing gang related clothing and girls wearing clothes that are too revealing and inappropriate for school. In 1996, President Clinton addressed the issue of uniforms during one of his presidential speeches. During that speech he stated “If it means that teenagers will stop killing each other over…

An important reason for uniforms is that it would prevent bullying in school. There are a number of students around the country who are fearful of going to school every day because of being bullied. Just because they don't wear the latest fashions, they are insulted constantly. In a lot of public schools, in order to be considered popular, it is important to wear the latest clothing styles. A way to fix this ranking of students by their clothes is school uniforms. If uniforms were worn in public schools, students wouldn't have to worry about the newest clothes or what they wore at all. They wouldn't be able to be picked on because everyone else would be wearing the same thing. Students would look at each other as equals and not bully less fortunate students.…
