ognitive disability can be caused by a variety of factors, such as: hormonal imbalance, genetic disorders, environmental factors, malnutrition, infringement during the growth and development stages of infancy, substance abuse, physical injury and so on. Cognitive disability may be characterised as mild, moderate and severe. These characteristics maybe judged according to their IQ tests scores. If the IQ of a child is between 55–70, she/he is considered to have mild cognitive disability. If the IQ of a child is between 30–55, then the child is in the category of mild cognitive disability. A child falls in the severe cognitive category if the IQ is below 30.
