Mike Bloomberg's Life And Accomplishments
Mike Bloomberg was born in 1942 and raised in a middle-class town of Medford in Boston, Massachusetts. He lived there with his father, William, his mother, Charlotte, and sister Marjorie. Devoted to public service as a child Mr. Bloomberg becomes one of the nation’s youngest Eagle Scouts.
After High school Bloomberg went to John Hopkins University for his bachelor's degree. At Hopkins, he was known as a leader; elected president of his fraternity, president of the inter-Fraternity Council, and class president. Bloomberg’s experience campaigning for office at Hopkins gave him skills that he will later use in his career. Mr Bloomberg then finishes his education by earning his MBA from Harvard Business School. “[At Harvard,] I learned the basics of accounting, marketing, production, management, control, finance, and behavioral science. Harvard’s “case method” teaching honed my analytical skills and sharpened my communications abilities. With a starting salary of $9,000 a year, Bloomberg worked his first summer in “the cage,” which was vigorous hours of hard work, counting securities by hand for new employees. In 1972 Bloomberg made partner, which at the time was a great thing. Making partner meant a pay raise, and a distinction of responsibilities; 1979 he then becomes general partner, head of equity trading and sales. After spending time as a general partner, Bloomberg changes positions in the company to run Information Systems; at the time he thought this was a step down, but not knowing that knowledge learned from this job will help build his company in the
