Midterm Analysis
Final Essay: Reflection
In almost every English class, the transition from midterm to final term is not quite easy. In this class final term, ENG 121, I have practiced my writing skills continuously with the process and writing from analysis of printed ad to the complicated argumentative essay. I have found that the final was more complicated even though the idea and the processes in the midterm had a great help in the processes and writing in the second term writings. For instance, the idea of finding or creating a topic sentence, developing details, and reasoning and concluding the essay were part of the things that had a great help for the final semester.
In the midterm, I had many things that challenge my writing process and highly affected my

Analyzing the printed ad was the first one after midterm. This wring helped me to be more focused in identifying ideas, messages and other things that one cannot understand easily. The connection between the colors with the commercial message, understanding the pictures and the logical connection between the pictures and the message that aimed to transfer to the audiences was tough, but it helps me to look things in different way, and to be multidimensional. Also, writing analysis essay by analyzing commercial ad was the other difficult thing that I learned in the final term. This essay was a little bit challenging, but had a great help for the final argumentative essay, which was more difficult. Knowing ethos (Credibility) in analysis essay helped me how I can set up the ideas and evidences to make credibility to my essay readers. Also pathos (feeling or emotion), helped me in making the feelings to the audiences. Furthermore, logos (logic) helped me I how can put the logical connection between the ideas, reasons with the topics and subtopics in every paragraph and conclusion in my argumentative

"Midterm Break" is a happy, promising title that belies the experience of the narrator; the irony of a death in the family over midterm has robbed not only Heaney's joy in family nostalgia, but all his horror and grief as well. The ideas of death, grief, and finality are explored in this poem. As he encounters other mourners, each more intense than the next, his neighbors, his crying father, Jim Evans, an emotionally ravaged family friend. His tone takes on an aura of dismay. Heaney retreats emotionally at their hollow comforts.…

Writing an essay can be daunting, but understanding the correct steps in the process can relieve stress and set the student on the proper path. Student's have been taught numerous ways on how to develop a paper and picking the correct one can be challenging. Some people may write well in high school, but when they get to college they find out their methods are conflicting to the professor's. Joan Arbery’s article “Some Thoughts Concerning Academic Essays" has caused me to consider the experiences that I have had writing academic essays. I agree with Arbery's methods because she offers a clear and concise outline on how to construct and organize an argument…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Academic writing is an art of expressing and transforming thoughts and ideas into physical form to deliver information logically and scientifically. This skill needs to be refined and practiced constantly regularly. After three months of taking ESL 273, I have accumulated various experiences in writing advanced sentences and organizing academic essays which are really necessary for me to perform well in the next English course, ESL 5, as well as other classes. As a result, I think I am well-prepared and ready for the next coming course ESL 5. During the ESL 273 course, one of my strengths which is the ability of using various examples as well as explanations to reinforce my main ideas and make them more persuasive is gradually improved. For example, in my writing assignment titled “Littlemindedness- Little Limit to Go Over”, I used my personal experiences such as the diminution of discriminative thoughts and the opportunities I felt when I went from high school to college. Moreover, I also used the reality happening to the curriculum in my home country, Vietnam, in order to strengthen my attitude that coming to De Anza College can generate a significant chance to my life. In addition, I realized how important and essential transitional words are in writing an academic essay and gluing my ideas, sentences, and paragraphs together. Thus, I always keep trying to use a variety of transitional words and phrases in my essay to make it become more coherent and cohesive and avoid making discrete information. In the article “The Advantageous Policy on Immigrants”, I used some transitional words like consequently, in addition, moreover, as a result, after all, and nevertheless to create smoothness for my essay. As a result, the quality of my essays will be improved, and I will be successful in expressing and illustrating the flow of my thoughts. However, after completing 4 in-class essays, I realize that…
