ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

PURPOSE

The purpose of this assignment is to develop learners’ ability to analyse, evaluate and suggest improvements to the performance appraisal process in the workplace.

REQUIREMENTS

Analyse how a selected organisation evaluates its employees’ job performance, based on an interview with the human resource manager and relate it with the relevant performance appraisal model. Provide recommendations on how to improve the current performance appraisal process.

    Norita Deraman Nizamuddin Zainuddin Oemar Hamdan Universiti Utara Malaysia ABSTRAK Kajian awal ini dijalankan bagi tujuan melihat orientasi ciri keperluan pencapaian dan ciri lokus kawalan usahawan Bumiputra Malaysia. Sampel kajian menggunakan kaedah persampelan rawak mudah, dan soal selidik berstruktur yang mengandungi dua bahagian. Bahagian pertama melihat profil demografik dan sosio-ekonomi responden sementara bahagian kedua melihat ciri keperluan pencapaian yang diukur menggunakan 4 dimensi yang berbeza (etika kerja;mengejar kecermelangan; kemahiran; berpengaruh) yang mengandungi 16 item. Sementara ciri lokus kawalan pula diukur menggunakan 3 dimensi yang berbeza ( sifat semulajadi dalaman; peluang semulajadi; menguasai yang lain) yang mengandungi 12 item. Item-item ini diadaptasi daripada kajian yang sama oleh Littunen (2000). Skala Likert 5 titik digunakan bagi melihat tahap persetujuan responden terhadap 28 item tersebut bermula dari 1 sebagai sangat tidak setuju kepada 5 sebagai sangat setuju. Seramai 70 orang responden yang terdiri daripada 41 lelaki dan 29 wanita telah terlibat dalam kajian ini. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa responden mempunyai ciri keperluan pencapaian yang tinggi (skor melebihi 3) dengan dimensi mengejar kecermelangan mempunyai min yang paling tinggi (4.15) diikuti etika kerja (4.07), berpengaruh (3.50) dan dimensi kemahiran yang paling rendah (3.24). Mereka juga didapati mempunyai ciri lokus kawalan dalaman yang tinggi.Hasil kajian juga mendapati min purata bagi usahawan lelaki adalah lebih tinggi berbanding wanita dalam kedua-dua ciri yang dikaji. Walau bagaimanapun ujian – T tidak menunjukkan sebarang perbezaan yang signifikan wujud. Begitu juga ujian – T yang dijalankan ke atas setiap dimensi ciri keperluan pencapaian mendapati tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan bagi kesemua dimensi yang terlibat kecuali dimensi berpengaruh…
