Michael Jordan was the great NBA basketball player; he was one of the best players to ever step foot on a basketball court. Although the battle was not ever easy for Jordan, he faced all adversity, and he rose to the occasion, Jordan won championships on every team he ever played for, so he was just that amazing. He has a room full of trophies, a collection of championship rings, a couple gold metals, and he still has the best knowledge of anyone to every play the game. Although he was phenomenal in basketball, he also played pro baseball. Michael Jordan is not only known for being a great athlete, but also for his personality, and ability to play with ease. His new college coach, Dean Smith, who is known for his famous coaching strategy and technique. He stressed the fundamentals of basketball and encouraged each player to sacrifice the greater good. Michael word his way into the starting line up his freshman year, he did not have any stand out stats during his freshman year, but he was the man you went to when you needed someone to make a shot when it was needed most. His most important shot of the year was an amazing jump shot that put the Tar Heels up by one, which gave Dean Smith his first championship. Michael was named ACC rookie of the year. Although the Tar Heels did not win another championship during Jordan’s years in college, Michael did not come into his own as a premiere college player in the country. He was named All- American his sophomore year and The Sporting News selected him as college player of the year in 1983. Michael’s marvelous ability to fly through the air and make big plays shocked the world. He also helped the United States Pan- American games win a gold medal. The only other player to score as easily as Jordan did on the court was Wilt Chamberlin. Although Jordan had been filling the record books with his phenomenal play he was not satisfied with his team, he felt like they could be better. He was willing to take the backseat if it would get him to win. In the 1987-88 seasons, the Chicago bulls won fifty games, which was the first time it had been done in years. The bulls were considered a championship team, but still fell short to the Detroit Pistons. Jordan brought in numerous honors including Defensive Player of The Year, and Most Valuable Player He was the first player to win both a scoring title and defensive player of the year, in the same season. The Bulls finally won a championship in 1991 against the Los Angeles Lakers in five games, and that was not the last. Jordan and the Chicago Bulls won a numerous amounts of championships, which are arguably the best team that was ever put together. Jordan also won his fifth straight scoring title.
This all did not come easily for Jordan; he lost his father, after winning a championship. It was considered a homicide. His idol was now dead, his father was the engine that pushed his so hard, after his father’s dead Jordan decided that he would not continue to play in the NBA and he would go and play Major League Baseball for the Chicago White Sox.
