Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan changed and shaped our society by the way he played basketball. Michael Jordan is one of the best basketball players in the history of the National Basketball Association or NBA. He played in the NBA for sixteen years fourteen with the Chicago Bulls and two with Washington Wizards. He was no doubt one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, and the best player of his era. Michael Jordan or “Air Jordan” is characterized by his tough spirit, determination, and passion for the game of basketball. He changed our society not only by evolving the game of basketball but also off the court by donating millions of dollars to charities such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish Foundation, CharitaBulls, and Kids Wish Network.
Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 17, 1963. Jordan was the fourth of five children. Michael quickly became interested in sports, but basketball wasn’t the first sport he played his first love was baseball. He then started playing basketball because of his older brother Larry which he idolized. As a sophomore in high school Michael Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team… but was cut. He was devastated so over summer Michael would practice tirelessly, also he would end up growing four inches. His hard work ends up paying off so the next two years of high school Michael would end up averaging 25 point a game. As a senior he would be selected to the McDonald’s All-Star game.
As a freshman in college Michael would be named the ACC Freshmen of the Year. In 1982 Michael took North Carolina to a NCAA Championship making the game winning shot. In 1984 Michael won the Naismith College Player of the Year award. In 1984 Michael Jordan will be drafted by the Chicago Bulls. In 1986 Michael would return to the University of North Carolina to get a degree in geography. After getting his Degree he then went back to the NBA and
