Team D Week 3 Reflection Summary
Odilis Asilis For Week 3 I have had the opportunity to learn in detail how company’s functions determine the structure of its different departments due to the need of specialized tasks forces to achieve goals within the finance, marketing, sales human resources and other departments that need a specific structure to help achieve the company’s overall goal. I have learned that organizations benefit from these structures because they manage to bring together great people that share similar

I found the material of this week’s reading to be very interesting because I can apply it to my personal life as well as future professional careers. The chapter that I found to be the most interesting was the most interesting was Chapter 10 because it goes into depth about the job duties and functions of an HR manager or specialist. Learning about all that goes into considering which applicants to choose to how much to pay is very interesting and I never really knew how complex the issue could be. For example, sometimes when I call to check on a job application the HR manager may state that the position will be filled internally (very discouraging to hear); however, now I see that they do so based on a number of reasons.

In the previous week I learned how the organization structure affects organizational functions. From what I have learned in the discussions of this class I can use some of these methods in my everyday life, because I work at a large company that holds different positions such as plant managers, plant supervisors, bookkeeping and human resources. I realize that it takes everyone in these positions to work together in order to have a well structure organizational. Organizational structure and organizational functions must work together to have an organized organization. In this week reading I also learned of the different organizational

I enjoyed going through the process of coming up with a hypothetical person and how to go through the steps on helping them, and staying organized with everything while helping them. I learned a lot from reading outside articles instead of just the book. This articles showed in depth how to help a client. Doing this process has shown me that it is a lot of work to stay on track with a client but that hard work will pay off because you will be organized which will make helping them even more…

I was able to make a lot of connections with this book to my parents careers. One idea that I have been taught my entire life is that having a positive attitude can change your perspective on any situation and this book reaffirmed what I have learned throughout my life in that regard. Another topic that I discussed in the paper was cutler's idea of striking a balance between challenge and boredom in the workplace. Another topic that I discussed is it difference between a job, a career, and a calling. I found it interesting that a positive attitude can make job into a calling. Another topic that I found extremely interesting is that the money we make has a great impact on how we view ourselves. The final topic that I covered in my review of The Art of Happiness at Work was how people identify themselves through their work. After reading this book I still believe that the meaning of life is to be happy. I believe that they be happy in life a person must be happy with their…

Authority structure within organizations is important for the oversight of delegated processes and expected outcomes. Without structure, chaos would impede support, communications, and vision development. Organizational designs vary according to the need of the organization to operate efficiently, to achieve goals, and to support the associates within the organization. The organizational structure style design helps lead the organization in successful endeavors (Sullivan & Decker, 2009).…

    Changing your major

Deciding to change your major is a very big decision. In fact, it’s one that weighed very heavy on me about 6 months ago. I entered college with the burning desire to be a coach. I love sports and desperately wanted to be on the side line of a basketball or football game, making the final decision to win a game. Young adolescent competitiveness led me to that decision and I spent 3 years in college trying to achieve that. But, once I became a husband and father, I realized that my goals and dreams had to incorporate my wife and daughter, and my dream was to give them more than I ever had. With that, I chose to change my major and enter the business field.…

Organizations purchase goods to use in their ongoing operations and to resell to consumers, while consumers purchase goods for their personal use. Organizations also purchase more raw materials, such as wood, steel and other items used in manufacturing, than individuals who don't have the tools or knowledge to put those raw materials to use as a product. Organizations generally purchase goods in larger volumes than individuals and are driven by customer demand and need for manufacturing materials. Consumers, on the other hand, are driven both by need and by want. It is possible to entice a consumer to purchase something he does not need through effective marketing or peer pressure, but it is much harder to entice an organization to buy an un-needed product, especially when dealing with a purchasing department that is accountable for what it spends.…
