Verifying VLUN Presentation and Working with VLUNs -- Windows 2008
Part 1: Verifying LUN Presentation
1. 2. If you have not already done so, present some VLUNs to your Windows 2008 server. To discover the VLUNs go into Windows Disk Management and initiate a rescan disks action: Select Start Administrative Tools Computer Management Under the Storage folder select Disk Management. Right click on Disk Management and perform a Rescan Disks. Newly discovered luns/ disks should appear in lower right pane.

If your new VLUNs do not appear go back into IMC and make sure that luns were exported and the proper WWNs were used when adding your host. If still no VLUNs appear notify your instructor. 3. In Computer Management Device Manager expand the “+” next to Disk Drives. You should see entries for the disk drives that you added/presented. To see the LUN numbers, right click on the disk drive and select Properties.

Part 2: Initializing/Mounting a LUN
In this part of the lab we will take a lun/luns presented to your Windows host(s) and make them available for use: 1. Select: Start Administrative Tools Computer Management Under the Storage folder select Disk Management. Your disks/luns should show in the pane with disk numbers (Disk1 Disk 12 in the 1, example). Disks initially presented to a Windows 2008 host will display as Offline.
