“What if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy..” -BLESSINGS, Laura Story

This life is not a perfect life. It is like a road. There are ups and downs; there are rough and smoothly cemented roads. There are traffic signs and detours. But the happiest thing in this journey of life is the time Jesus went on board and took the lead. Jesus said in John 10:10b, “I came for you to have life and have it abundantly.” This passage doesn’t assured us to have a complete happiness and joyride in our Christian life. It is because we are still in this fallen world where sins and temptations are everywhere. As it is stated in the song: “When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win, we know the pain reminds this heart that this is not our home.” Yes, it is not really our home! The very moment we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, this world is not already ours and same with the world doesn’t own us anymore. In this Christian life, we will experience pains, hurts, grief, disappointments, trials, problems and tears. Sometimes it is too much to bear, too much to endure and too much for us to hold on. Many times, because of these problems, we doubt God. We doubt His love, His faithfulness and His goodness. We questioned Him why do we have to still bear this kind of pain? Why? Why is He allowing these trials to come to us? Sometimes because our minds are full of questions, we never mind and understand what His very purpose of allowing us to experience such pain. We didn’t realize the reasons behind all those tears. We are selfishly focusing on ourselves and our own benefits so we can’t see Him beside us, passionately comforting us. We are so busy focusing on the problems around us so we can’t see

All throughout generations, humans have desired to know what to put their faith into when it appears that God is not there. To Louie Zamperini, he finds that if he does not put his trust in the Lord and does not ask to be saved, that he would surely be put to death. Through Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, pastor Billy Graham displays how impactful God is through maintaining faith and how to live that life through Him: “What God asks of men, said Graham, is faith. His Invisibility is the truest test of that faith. To know who sees him, God makes himself unseen.” (Hillenbrand 190)…

Sometimes we think that our plans must lead down a better road, or that God must not love us enough to protect us from this pain we feel, but God actually uses the painful experiences to further develop our character. Vivian Thomas could have given up when it became too discouraging, but instead he persevered and became an inspiration to many people. During times that are hard, God teaches us more about life, ourselves, and most importantly, about Him. Through His Word we can know our God and have thoughts about who He is. In a thoughtful desire to pursue truth there becomes a right and a wrong way of thinking about God, allowing us to discern heresy from sound theology. In his book God Talk, Randall J. VanderMey states that “close attention to Christian language— its possibilities as well as its poverties—can open the mind, reawaken wonder and strengthen faith” (VanderMey 16). It is important that we examine how prioritizing feelings over thoughts has affected our relationships with God. Instead of thinking thoughts about God and desiring to have knowledge about God, we prioritize feeling His presence and when we don’t feel His presence, we doubt His omnipresence. However, when we seek out truth about who God is—the thoughts about God that are written for us in Scripture— these thoughts about God become our thoughts, which in turn can produce feelings. How much more deep and rewarding is the feeling that we can attribute to…

It’d be nice if there was but that’s not how life is. Happiness that’s present in my life is because of God and how straightforward his word is. As a christian, I know that once I’m saved, there is absolutely no one that can take that away from me. Even when I’m going through the storm, the sure promises of God carry me through. All over the world, millions of people are suffering daily. Unfortunately, many of them do not know Christ and/or don’t have a way to get to know Him. The fortunate few are able to pray and believe that God will help them get through their sufferings and that He knows what His best for them. They know that God has a plan for them and they should trust in Him with all of their needs. For God to have a place in anyone's life they must first want him. This desire must be sincere, and it requires adherence to God’s requirements on the individual for him to do his work. For God, there is clear cut activity that must take place on the side of the person. In Psalm 51, the writer is seeking God’s presence. More than that he seeks redemption from his transgressions against God. He understands that he did wrong. There is knowledge on his part for recognizing what he did wrong. He knows what to do to make it right between he and the Lord. It’s the work that he has to do to reattain the Lord’s presence that makes him cry out. There is a brokenness in him, and a contrite spirit that understands he has a lot of work to do in…
