What were your reasons for becoming a counselor? How do they fit with those discussed in Farber et al. (2005)?

One of the things that I really appreciate about becoming a therapist is how stimulating it is to work in the field when I help families that are experiencing stress. I also enjoy supporting families find hope during times where a they cannot find it. The article talks about how intellectual stimulation is one of the reasons why individuals might choose to become mental health counselors. I think my conceptualization of wanting to help families that are in stressed situations can be related to the reason of being intellectually stimulated. Though, I did find it interesting that females scored higher than men in this category. Another
