Mental Disorders Case Study
The client is a 58-year-old African-American male. The client is a Veteran, having served in the Army starting 1974 and ending 1975 with the rank of E4. The client has three adult children who are 31-years old, 37-years-old, and 38-years-old. The client has been married for the duration of three years. He described his current relationship as "horrible", and stated his wife abuses him physically, emotionally, and mentally. The client stated he carries a diagnosis of Manic Depression. In addition, he believes that the he was diagnosed with other mental health disorders but does not remember specifics related to the diagnoses. He consumes the prescribed psychotropic medications Hydroxyzine 50mg and Quetiapine 150mg. The client carries diagnosis of Cannabis Use Disorder: Severe- F14.20

The client stated during his adulthood he believes that he was sexually assaulted by a male or female while he was intoxicated. Currently, the client denies having any food allergies, or medicine allergies. The client is exploring the options surrounding obtaining a Primary Care Physician within Fayetteville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The client does not remember his last dental, or eye exam. The client does not remember the date, or length of the longest time that he has remained sober. Presently, the client has a pending shoplifting charge, and has a court date in March pertaining to this charge. The clients stated that his strengths include having communication skills, a good sense of humor, and excelling with numbers. The client stated he needs stable and safe housing, financial stability, and help with his addiction. The client stated he enjoys watching all sports. The client stated over the next twelve months he wants to stay sober, improve physical health, and to gain income. Currently, the client denies having any suicidal ideations, or homicidal ideations.
