Medical Coding Career
The career I will be pursing is Medical Coding. After receiving my Medical Assistant diploma, I started working in a Pediatric clinic in the back office doing patient care and front office scheduling appointments and receiving and posting payments, I also researched and assigned medical codes for outpatient billing using International Classification of Disease- ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9) and the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding books. Medical Coding. I then went to work coding inpatient records. It is a little different from coding outpatient medical records. While there is no mandatory education required for employment, however there are a few options you can take. I would recommend going through a medical coding certification program or completing a degree this will provide you better knowledge of what it consist of, how to identify and codes. I have found that many healthcare facilities are looking for coders that have a certification or a degree.
