A searchable compendium of healthcare report cards, designed especially for consumers, and which includes comparative data on quality designed especially for healthcare organizations and providers by type of provider, is offered. This organization also provides access to different types of data primarily used for quality and utilization purposes. For instance, it sponsors the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). This project provides access to a family of databases which contain public and private hospital care data, but accessing this data set requires an agreement in which limitations and provisions of data usage are summarized, and users (organizations) are required to cite AHRQ when using the data in reports. Finally, the AHRQ supports the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey in its provision of data on the cost and use of healthcare services and health insurance across the United States. This data’s main components are household data, which focuses on patients and their providers, and insurance data. Such data can be used for private planning, and to help policy makers have a better understanding of the nation’s healthcare needs and how best to meet them (Bronnert et al., 2010).…

There is no doubt that the health insurance landscape of today’s society is drastically different than what our grandparents experienced decades ago. With health insurance reforms and the growth of a health insurance marketplace, the government hopes to ensure health coverage for more Americans than ever before. The health insurance paradigm has shifted from a privilege to a basic right, but it has not come without immense debate, discussions over the quality of care and its rising costs. The new reform proposed by the Obama administration to insure every American has sparked…

Today, many Americans are affected by health care decisions made without their prior knowledge. More than likely most Americans are unsure how those decisions are decided and who is responsible for making those decisions that ultimately affect how health care is administered (Kongstvedt, 2016). The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and for providing essential human services, especially to those who are unable to help themselves. Health care in the United States has been an ongoing dispute and a major concern to all involved from the provider to the consumer. The Managed Care Answer Guide is designed to help people…

The idea for a national health plan was not something considered to be a priority of American government prior to the 1940’s. President Harry S. Truman was the first president to push the issue to the United States Congress in 1945. Truman called for the creation of a national health insurance plan that would be aviailable to all Americans. He envisioned coverage for hospital visits, dental care, nursing care, and doctor’s visits. The plan would cover any medical expenses that were considered typical medical expenses. Although Truman envisioned this plan, he was unsuccessful in getting Congress to approve such a vast undertaking during his term (2).…

The Medicaid program is for the indigent families. It’s a program put together by the state and federal government. Being indigent does not necessarily qualify you for Medicaid. Medicaid is the biggest source of funding for medical health services for people with no or limited income. Having limited assets is one of the primary requirements for Medicaid eligibility. Medicaid does not provide all medical assistance for all poor persons (Shi & Singh, 2008). Even under provisions of the federal statute, the Medicaid program does not give services unless you are in a certain group. There are many numbers of Medicaid categories; within each group there are requirements other than income that must be met. These other things include, but not limited to, assets, age, pregnancy, disability, blindness, income and resources, and one’s status as a U.S citizen. Medicaid is jointly financed by the states and the federal government, and is administered by the states within broad federal guidelines. The Medicaid program is monitored by the centers for Medicare and Medicaid (Komar, 2007).…
