Media hypocrisy

There is no doubt that the media is the primary source of information that in fact nowadays overloads the average person with various data on a daily basis .The media has been always a tool of spreading the news, no matter good or bad, in the shortest possible time to the general public. Even nowadays with the revolutionary development and expansion of the technology the media has become extremely influential through its availability to the people and its various types of tools for sharing information. Thus, somehow we can’t even avoid certain types of media because they have become a part of our dial survival. They have created numerous ways of how to reach the audience. We can now hear or read or see the same information at home, on the road, in our car, in a café or else where.
In regards of this there is the general opinion that the media in a direct or indirect way controls people’s lives and has enormous influence of how people perceive themselves, the others and the environment they live in. However, it has been always questionable the reliability of the information that the media shares. Quite often the public has discussed this topic whether we can rely on the media and the information they share to us.
Therefore in real people start to believe that they can’t rely on the information that the media shares with them, because quite often that data is biased, unreliable and too much disguised.
There are many factors and significant researches that support this thesis.
In fact according to Djankov, Nenova, Mcliesh and Shleifer in whose research they have gathered various data about the media from 97 countries and has come to very striking results that indicate that the majority of the media is being controlled and therefore their information is been considered as not so reliable. The research showed that the majority of the media is in fact government owned in a

Today many people are affected by what the media puts into their heads. Many others, including myself, judge the media as hearsay and propaganda. In the essay " Pictures in Our Heads" Anthony Pratkanis and Elliot Aronson, on page 157, ask the question "To what extent do we let our fictions guide our thoughts and actions?". In my opinion Pratkanis' and Aronson's question does not apply to me, but it does pertain to some others. Their supports should be backed by better studies, yet some of the supports seem to be quite accurate.…

A regular viewer may not filter out any bias, therefore media sources often times over-exaggerate in order to persuade their audience. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the freedom of speech and press, so without any restrictions media outlet can freely express their views how ever they like. In a general sense the Constitution created this immunity that protects the rights of groups rather than primarily of individuals. "How is the media biased?" Media outlets like all cooperations has a goal, and that goal is to frame the public's mind. The motive is clear, it is designed to provoke and persuade. With the technology advancing at an exponential rate, it makes it easier for anyone to come across a biased article or news on the internet. I am not saying all news coverage are not straightforward, but the most popular ones have the most opinionated hosts. Due to theses segmented biases, many informations are distorted. These include bias by omissions, story selection, labeling, placement, selection of source, racial bias, conservative/liberal bias and so on. Many politicians utilize media for their benefit, like running their campaign. Because of the manipulative influence that media has on the public, many candidates attempt to get a hold of these media outlets to work in their favor. With Twitter and other social media become a powerful platform, ideas and informations now…

The media is often equated with the communication of truth (Thiroux, 2007, p. 389). The evolution of technology has resulted in a large expansion of the media resources, whether it be written or electronic sources. This has increased the ability of the media to influence the perceptions of certain events by the general public (Thiroux, 2007, p. 389). This is done by reporting on stories where the facts of the case aren’t always known.…

The modern mass media, an all-encompassing body to which contemporary western society stringently relies upon as a source of information, is the major outlet to which the masses are able to readily and easily access news and current events, regardless of the location or the time in which it occurs throughout the world (Mutz, 1989). Whilst strictly, the media may only suggest an opinion for an individual to uptake, constant reiteration of a specific viewpoint from numerous media outlets may eventually create doubts in even the most resilient minds, further emphasizing the vast influence of the media (Ericson, 1995). The vast majority of individuals lack the necessary knowledge…

In today’s dynamic world we rely on different sources of information using varieties of information technologies. We depend on the various mass media for information about events in and outside of the United States. This information influences, and often shapes the view of our country and the world, and helps us determine the position on issues that affect us. The media indeed shapes our reality. Media is and will always be the conductor between a government and the people they govern. We the people are the ones that believe and trust in most cases the information that we receive. Especially when this information comes from a seemingly trusted source, we tend not to doubt anything that we hear. Over the last ten years, there has been an incredible increase in the amount of news and media available to us on a daily basis. Society is bombarded with news twenty-four hours a day over multiple platforms that cover everything from the mundane to the serious. With this proliferation of news, it’s hard to know what is true from what is false, especially when there is bias in the media. Some people believe that media bias helps to understand different viewpoints of a situation, therefore leading to a more positive outcome, while other people believe that media bias poses larger problems and leads to situations where nobody benefits. Bias in the media has become a huge problem in today’s society and leads to many other problems like fake news,…

Is very interesting the way media control people, in first instance media was created to get people informed instantly about what was happening in the world instantly, but as its commonly presented in society, humans abuse of power, this time they used it to hypnotize people, somehow media control people because they use many subliminal messages which at last make humans to change their mind, and probably what Mr. Cernik says is true, “television make people stupid.” At last media finishes making choices for people, and this takes humans their freedom because they are mesmerized under the control of media. This ends being a mistake because after people have committed the error of voting then it comes the opportunity for the leader of take again advantage of his power and make whatever he wants. This method is very common and it’s not only used on elections, but on every product a company wants to sell, somehow they take advantages of human ignorance, this makes no good because they are cheating on us, somehow there are always one step forward, but if we stop to think about it, if we were them then we would use the same. Humans at this point of life they are dependent of media, but there are different types of media, such as newspaper, this type of media is very good, even though it has also a little bit of propaganda there are not too many manners on how to catch people against their own will, the television type of media is very good but when some try to take advantage becomes harmful, and this type of media should be punished, election commercials on T.V. should be cancelled because those commercials manipulate humans, someway transform humans in their robots and they can control them however they want. And it’s hard to believe it but at last humans become slaves of media, humans have become very lazy, to the point that they rather see television than reading newspaper. To end my report I would want to bring this…

Based on this theory, although the mass media is not directly under the control of the State, they had to follow its bidding. In Western Europe, the freedom of thought under an authoritarian approach was guarded by a few people such as people from the ruling class. They claimed to have been concerned with the emergence of a new middle class and were worried about the impact of printed matter on their thought process so precaution was taken to control the freedom of expression. This, of course,…

Media should play its role freely without the influence of any other parties or power. The media suppose to be the agent of change, development, stability, social cohesion, a platform for mental or intellectual reformation and its biggest role is as the market for any kind of information.
