Step one of the Interpretative Journey for the New Testament letters asks the reader to "Grasp the text in their town." By this the author wants the reader to understand the difference in culture and time, as well as understand that the message Paul was trying to teach when writing that letter to the Galatians. In chapter 5:16-18, Paul states very clearly and to the point, "Let the holy spirit guide your lives, then you wont be doing what your sinful nature craves." This powerful verse allows the reader to understand how great the fight between the flesh and the Spirit are. These three verses allowed Paul to reassure that anyone who walks in the path of the Spirit will less likely give in to the urges of the Flesh. Those who do right to fulfil their obligation to the Spirit are slowly cleansing their own soul of their sinful desires.…
Paul appeals to the religion side of people not of knowledge of God however of the ignorance of God. To summarize it all together people everywhere have some idea of God. In addition, the only trustworthy knowledge sought out is God breaking into our lives in a special way that not depending on what one person tell themselves. Step One: Paul is the writer of the book of Galatians. (Gal. 1:1) Paul refers to the audience as those in Galatia. (Gal 1:2) “Galicia was the region of central Asia Minor habituated by Celtic people.”1 “The theme of Galatians, like that of Romans is justification by faith.” 2 Paul wrote the letter because of false teachers who were undermining the NT doctrine of grace. The paragraph before, “Paul warns them that the best attitude against false teachers is not to strive with one another.” 3 The main paragraph (v.15-18) Paul tells them to be led by the Spirit. He concludes, “With a caution against pride and envy.”4(v.19-24) Galatians 5:16-18 still applies to us today. 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose - John 17:3 provides a simple explanation of what it means to know God. In Luke 12:15-21, it is stated that one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions. As in the parable of the man with the abundant crops, you can store up riches for yourself but that is not how you become rich in God.…
Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's tragic plays. It is about two star crossed lovers who commit suicide when their feuding families prevent them from being together. The play has many characters, each with his/her own role in keeping the plot line. Some characters do not have a great amount of lines, but have the plot revolving around them. Such a character is Friar Laurence. At first glance, one may overlook this character and dismiss him as only a minor player in the story of Romeo and Juliet. Upon closer examination, it becomes obvious that the Friar plays a crucial role in the development of the play. Throughout the play he attempts to guide young Romeo and Juliet through their struggles, and unwittingly causes their deaths.…

The difference between Christians today and Paul is staggering. The same spirit that lives in Paul and Jesus is the same spirit that is in Christians today. The western culture of Christians in today’s world live in very similar environment that the early Greco-Roman Western environment of Paul’s day. Disconnection has occurred because as Fee states “is in the large part to their experience of the reality of the Spirit’s presence.” This presents a very concerning issue with the church today who sometimes take the either/or approach to the Spirit between the gifts and the fruit of Spirit. The Spirit was an empowering force to Christian in the early church era. This power was not limited to signs and wonders, healings, or tongues but it was to empower the whole life of a Christian to grasp the beauty of being made in the image of God. The Spirit of God was the fulfillment of all the Jewish prophesies on how God would return His Presence to mankind again. The Trinitarian views became grounded because of Paul’s revelation on the very real true nature of God. The triune nature of God as one shows the vital importance that God is a relational being. He desires relationships and He has sent His Spirit for the church to be unified as one bride.…

In order to emphasize to the Corinthians that human wisdom is not as powerful as God’s wisdom, Paul wanted to show that Godly wisdom was accessible and available to all believers (Brass, 2000). Paul shared how we gain wisdom through the teachings of the gospel not through baptism. Paul understands that the Greek’s admire human wisdom, but show them that this form of wisdom is misplaced and keeping them from receiving the word and power of God through the teachings in the gospel (Brass, 2000).…

First, God works in the universe. As a prophet of God, King David, said in Psalm 19, verse 1, “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” One can hardly look at the beauty, the order, and the wisdom of the universe and not see how wise and powerful God is. The God who makes the sun shine and the flowers bloom, the God who regulates times and seasons has such great power and wisdom that it is truly beyond our understanding. Paul declared in Acts 14, verses 16 and 17: "And in the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness." Everything we have comes from the blessings of God.…
