Literary Pieces
In this lesson I learned so many things about Literature. Literature is a term used to describe written or spoken material. In broadly speaking, “ Literature” is used to describe anything from creative writing to more technical or scientific works, but the term is most commonly used to refer to works of the creative imagination, including works of poetry, drama, fiction, and nonfiction. In simple words Lieterature is an art of written words. Litera means Letter ( alphabet a-z, word-sentence-paragraph). There are two types of Literature or literary pieces. The first is the written and the second is the unwritten. Written literature or literary pieces are quite simply literature that is written down. The term is used to distinguish it from oral literature, which may includefolk song, oral poetryLiterature is an eternally burning flame exuding light that renders significance to civilization. It can die only if the printed words disappear from the face of the Earth and if man ceases or stops to give effective expressions to his thoughts and emotions. Literature is also a faithful reproduction of life, executed in artistic way. It is a product of particular people-fashion according to their own aesthetic ideals. It can reflect or mirror life of a group. There are many roles of a literature but there is only one role which we can call as the main role of a Literature which is to make the reader interpret and imagine what he is reading and in the process, to identify himself with it. However the other role of a literature is to sharpens or enhance one’s perception and broadens self-understanding and knowledge, records human experiences and imitates life, and deals with people, culture, passion and lofty thoughts. In short the function or role of a literature is to educate and entertain people. Philippine Literature began even before the Spaniards came and colonized us. For me it is easy to learn when Ma’am Muldong taught us about Literary Pieces. Even though I learn it easy I will still read and research more about it so when I reach Grade 8, I can still remember it.

Literature is the foundation of life. It places an emphasis on many topics from human tragedies to tales of the ever-popular search for love. Ultimately, literature has provided a gateway to teach the reader about life experiences from even the saddest stories to the most joyful ones that will touch their hearts.…
