I watched Me, Myself and Irene. It is about a Rhode Island State Trooper named Charlie. He fell in love with a girl and they got married. She ended up leaving him for another guy. After going through everything Charlie was diagnosed with Multiple Personalities Disorder. As part of Charlie’s job he has to bring a woman named Irene to another police station. Along the way, Irene meets Hank, Charlie’s second personality while they themselves are trying to run from the police. In the end, Charlie’s personality disorder in the end is under control and Irene and Charlie get engaged. Multiple Personality Disorder is also called Dissociative Identity Disorder. According to Psychology Today, “Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a severe condition in which two or more distinct identities, or personality states, are present in—and alternately take control of—an individual. The person also experiences memory loss that is too extensive to be explained by ordinary forgetfulness” (Psychology Today, 2008). Dissociative Identity Disorder is caused by a traumatic injury, mentally or physical, that happened during childhood.
