Mean, Median and Standard Deviation
Explaining the make up a data description one must calculate the mean, median and standard deviation. To determine the mean, also known as the arithmetic average, is found by adding the value of the data and diving by the total numbers of values. In this case of a Bottle company study with thirty different bottles. The mean is 15.2, which was able to be reach by calculating the value of 30 bottles that equal 457 ounces divide by 30 (457/30=15.2). The median is the halfway point in a data set. Before you can find this point, the data must be arranged in order. When the data set is ordered, it is called a data array. The median either will be a specific value in value in the data set or will fall between two values. In this case the value falls in the middle to 15.6. The Standard Deviation is the square root of the variance. The preceding computational procedure reveals several

In this bottle case study the null hypothesis is there are sixteen ounces in each bottle. The alternate hypothesis is there are not sixteen ounces in each bottle. In order to understand the outcome of the test of hypothesis we must analyze the data set and our projections in the previous to answer them. Analyzing the data from above, we have a mean of 15.2 and a standard deviation of 0.73. Adding one standard deviation to the mean, we still do not get to sixteen ounces, which compute to be 15.93 ounces. Clearly from the calculation that the null hypothesis is incorrect and has been disproven, meaning that the alternate hypothesis is in fact the correct

The mean (or sum of data entries divided by number of entries) of 2270, is only very slightly larger than the median (the data at the middle of the sample), and the mode (the data entry that occurs with the greatest frequency) which are both the same at 2207. This represents a very slight affect by the outliers at the high and low ends of the data sample, indicating that the mean presents the most accurate description of the data set. (Larson & Farber, 2011. pgs. 66, 67, 68). [See Exhibit A].…

    1. Looking at SCORE variable, the skewness is -0.0511422 and excess kurtosis is 0.208336. For the normal distribution, skewness is zero. Since the skewness for SCORE variable is negative, this indicates that the distribution is skewed to the left (the long tail will be in the negative direction). For the normal distribution, kurtosis is three. So K-3 measures excess kurtosis. Since the excess kurtosis for SCORE variable is positive, the distribution is leptokurtic (it has thick tails as compared to the normal distribution.…

    1. The importance of employee benefits as a strategic component of fulfilling the goals of human resource management is to find, attract, and retain quality employees (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2009). Treating employees with respect, offering bonuses, rewards, on site lunches, etc. helps keep employees happy, and loyal. The main purpose for employee benefits is to find qualified candidates to fill positions, and want to stay within the company. Without offering employee benefits, employees wouldn’t remain loyal, and productivity would be low. Benefits are an employees’ incentive to want to do their job to the best that they possibly can, as well as stay loyal to the company. In today’s…
