Masque, Come Here: A Narrative Fiction
It was a unnaturally sunny day, not including the cloudy gray halo that surrounded a large patch of land, almost as if the sun was afraid to shine. And in the middle of that large patch of land was a very large house, victorian style, and as many old houses are, paint chipping, walls crumbling, and a snaggled barbwire fence surrounding the extensive amount of land. In the middle of all this, a girl, just one girl was lazily playing cards with herself, seemingly oblivious to the various stray cats, snarling dogs, soft drizzle of rain, and crumbling mansion. All of this chaos, around one house, as if it was a magnet for trouble. “Masque, Come here” The girl called, honey blonde hair plastered to the sides of her face due to the drizzle, deep …show more content…
Faye yelped, in quick reaction she sprinted after Masque hoping to find him, quickly, and at this Piper flinched nervously, but went after her best friend and their sidekick. They turned around to the assumed entrance and continued walking, after what seemed hours, they noticed they weren’t even close to where they started and it was getting dark, “ Most things are afraid of the dark, but here the dark is afraid of most things, things that come with the night” Faye …show more content…
But his movements were slow and methodical, as if he practiced them many times before, rehearsing this moment till she got it exactly right, his expression portrayed the hint of anxiety almost as if someone would catch him doing something wrong. “You’re lying” Piper said simply. Faye added“You’re a shapeshifter, a clever one at that, but I can understand your hesitation to share it, We must pretend to be something else, in order to survive, or in order to not get caught” She stated diplomatically, though at the last line, she smirked slightly. Nyx watched her for a moment, before dropping down from the tree, landing silently before shifting into a very different form. Piper gasped, at this revealing, like a lucky person at a game show, who had enough luck and knowledge to win, except they figured out their prize was a bathtub full of

As soon as she pulled onto the highway, the lightning flashed across the sky and she knew it would start raining soon. Ruth was unfamiliar with the curvy roads, and slowed down when the rain started forming a lake on the road in front of her, making it difficult for her to see the lines on the highway. Dark clouds hung slightly above the road and the sounds of rain beating against the car bothered her. “Perhaps I shouldn’t have chosen this day to ghost hunting,” she said as the inside windows fogged over, turning on the defroster she calmed down and sang along with the radio.…

As I quietly sneaked out the back door of Monkey's house my heart began to beat a little faster and I felt somewhat anxious, but I kept on going toward Sarah's house. I remember walking in the thick, dark green St.Augustine grass in my aunt's yard that felt like cushioning under my Mary Jane shoes and looking carefully in every direction to make sure no one was watching me en route to my destination. As I approached Sarah's front yard I began to feel uneasy and a little afraid, but I kept my eyes on the prize and knew Sarah had gone to work. As I stepped on Sarah's lawn, my eyes darted back and forth to see if there were again any bystanders or cars coming down the street. The coast was clear so I nervously made my way through Sarah's front yard to the porch and walked up the front steps to the mailbox. I could see through the glass that the mailbox was stuffed with different sized envelopes with typed letters of the alphabet on them. I stretched forth my hand and gently opened the lid so it would not squeak any more than possible. With my other hand I picked up the envelopes decorated with important writing and carefully removed them from the glass mailbox. As I turned around, again my eyes quickly grazed the landscape to see if anyone had spotted me. I then ran down the front porch steps, through Sarah's front yard, back into Monkey's yard, and made my way to…

She'd called her "The Prize."…

This story starts in a murky alleyway focused on a hidden bundle. A boy just out of infancy, buried in rags, breathing in the thick mist alone. No soul around to feed or care for him. An adult's mind he must obtain. Though short his thread to life is as lung-deep coughs emerge. Slipping into slumber, ghost smoke fills his mind. Fear-filled screams draw our story to this past. We watch as he crawls trading this horror for another. He enters a world of lost love. Gentle hands a fading memory as bruises take their place. His mind, drenched in the scent of alcohol, standing strong. Only an infant he learned to hide. Silent and scared, listening to the thunder on the stairs. No time to play, he'd clean the house. Only a house - not a home. The ache of hunger became his teacher, moulding his movements; mouse-like movements they became. Skills of protection soon followed, encouraged by the pain of others discovery. These skills enabling his escape. An escape we now follow back to the time our story is set. Where it is…

I had been only 13 when I decided I wanted to make money. That was an easy thing to do, as all young teenagers have desires for things, and money is mandatory to buy such things. It was especially easy for me to decide this as I could see my family was struggling. But deciding you have the want for money, even if you have the will to work for it, and actually feeling the cold hard cash in your hands are two very different matters.…
