This novel can be visualized to a great extent through the movie “The Pianist” directed by Roman Polanski. Andrien Brody plays the charcter, Wladyslaw Szpilman, not to be confused with Vladek Spiegelman. If you want to look through the eyes of a Nazi German during the Holocaust, Schindler’s List is a great movie as well.
Both mediums present the Holocaust in great detail, but you can feel the walls of the confined spaces that Valdek & Anja occupy in Maus more-so than that during the movie. The panels create a claustrophobic environment to visualize the story and creates a greater effect of discomfort for us readers. Even with explicit details of the child murders, gas chambers, oven cremations and hate screamed out by antisemitic characters, we only feel the tip of the iceberg in what surviving the Holocaust actually was like. asdasdasdnasd asd as da sd as da sd as d asd as da sd d nas dmnasd anmsdsabdnasbdas dbasjdbawudbawuidbauiwdb auwibdaiubduiabdiuasbd adbuaibsdubdaiusbdjakwdbauiwdbsa dabduiwbdbsaudbaskjdbawuidbas dbasjkdbawuidbaskjdbauwdbsakjbd adwbuaisbdjkasbdakjsdbauwbdkjsabd awbdjksabd asdbaskjdb awudbauksdbakjsdbawuidbakdbsjkadbauwdbaskjdbaskjdb awdbaskjbd asdbawud sakjbd auwbdaskjd bsakjbd awukdb sakjbd akjbduawkdb sajkdb waudb aksjbd abwdukabs djksadb auwdb askjdb awkudb askjdb akjsdbuwakdb akjsbd akuwdb askjdb akdb kasjdb kjasbd uawkdb askjdb akwudbaskjdb askjdb awkud baskjdb askjdb aukwdb aksjdb sakjdb kaud

The film opens to one of the only coloured shots of the movie, where a candle is lit and shortly after exstinguished. The scenes that are shown in colour are metaphors for life, but after this breif period of calm chaos ensues. The film turns to black and white and it is here where the story begins. The film is centred around the protagonist: Oskar Schindler, a German business man who is also a member of the Nazi party. Who, at first, seeks to profit from the war by using the Jewish labour in a pots and pans factory. But as the story progressed, he started to form a bond with the workers of his factory. Greatly influenced by the attrocities being commited around him, he redeems himself and takes on the task of protecting as many Jews as he could. Itzhak Stern, who is appointed "leader" of the Jews, becomes Oskar's business associate and is another contributing factor to Oskar's redemption. Amon Goeth, is the antagonist of the film, he is a psychopath who at beginning of the film is very similar to Oskar. But by the end, they're complete polar opposites.…

Due to the nature of the holocaust, certain themes, particularly alienation, are inherent in it. Certainly alienation is one of the strongest themes of each of the three examined films and of the holocaust itself. Each film represents the alienating effects of the Jewish ghettos and concentration camps, where Jews were segregated and killed by the thousands. In a particularly effective scene from Schindler's List, Jewish families are forced from their homes and transferred to a segregated ghetto, as Schindler is moved into one of…

The film is based on the autobiography of Wladyslaw Szpilman, who was playing Chopin on a Warsaw radio station when the first German bombs fell. Szpilman's family was prosperous and seemingly secure, and his immediate reaction was, "I'm not going anywhere”. We watch as the Nazi noose tightens. His family takes heart from reports that England and France have declared war; surely the Nazis will soon be defeated and life will return to normal. It does not. The city's Jews are forced to give up their possessions and move to the Warsaw ghetto, and there is a somber shot of a brick wall being built to enclose it. A Jewish police force is formed to enforce Nazi regulations, and Szpilman is offered a place on it; he refuses, but a good friend, who joins, later saves his life by taking him off a train bound for the death camps. Then the movie tells the long and incredible story of how Szpilman survived the war by hiding in Warsaw, with help from the Polish resistance. This film was inspired on World War II.…
