Martin Luther King Jr. has made a significant impact on the African American Culture, throughout his 39 years of life. His main goal was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States, and with that he has become a human rights icon. Martin Luther King Jr. was a fascinating man who had become a priest with many goals and accomplishments while trying to pursue his dream before being assassinated. Martin Luther King Jr. had two major influences, Howard Thurman, and Bayard Rustin. He also led some key events to ensure the success of the Civil Rights Act. First is Martin Luther King’s life, He was born January 15, in 1929 to the name of Michael and changed it to Martin. Martin Luther King Jr. dad later said that his name was mistaken recorded. He was the middle child, with an older sister and younger brother. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up during a segregated time, were blacks were always the odd man out. It was so bad that blacks couldn’t go to the same school as whites or public restrooms together. MLK Jr. was enrolled into David T. Elementary and could read before entering school because of his mother. He later went to Booker T. Martin Luther King went to Morehouse College and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and later enrolled in Crozer Theological Seminary.
