Mars Observation
Two minutes remaining. Exactly two minutes until I had to be observed and judged by some of the most highly-recognized scientists and engineers in the United States. There wasn’t a lot of time to contemplate on how I would properly address myself. No time at all. It was a Thursday afternoon at NASA Langley Research Center, where my team was about to go up and present our theoretical plan on how to gain public approval ratings and support for the mock mission to Mars. Most of my team members, including myself, were too tired from the lack of sleep throughout the course of the program. It was quite a torture to stay awake, but we were willing to give it our best. There were four teams that had to present before ours. Each of the first four were directly involved with the development of the mission, whereas our part was needed for public funding. That being the case, we knew that the questions given to us will be a lot more complex in nature, but before that, the presentation would be our first obstacle to face. Let me be honest, I was too tired to feel completely worried about my performance, but there were some signs of nervousness. The presentation was also recorded live stream on the Internet, which made the …show more content…
The first thing that I had to do was sleep, and I do mean by sleep. When I woke up late the next day, I jumped out of my bed and felt as a whole new person. Somehow, I left my old self right at the footsteps of NASA Langley Research Center, and I came out as a more confident person. Because of this, I was able to participate in more clubs at my school as well as my first martial arts competition. Never in my life would I have ever received my very own trophy if it was not for that experience. I know now that expressing and having faith in myself can bring new foundations into my life. Bruce Lee may no longer be here with us today, but his teachings will live on to

Filippino Lippi painted St. Philip Exorcising the Demon in the Temple of Mars between the years 1487 and 1502 for the Strozzi Chapel in Florence, Italy. The composition is rectangular. The focal point is St. Philip’s out-stretched arm near the bottom left. Following the implied line of St. Philip’s pointed finger leads the viewer up towards the statue of Mars. The viewer is then led back down to the falling prince near the fresco’s right corner. The line of sight within the crowd leads down to a dragonesque demon. Behind the demon is the rod of St. Philip, which leads the viewer slightly up to the crowd of priests in the left corner, and back to the focal point. The implied line from St. Philip to the statue of Mars, and back down to the crowd of people on the right creates a triangle within the work. This triangle is further emphasized through the use of color.…

The article The Martian Chroniclers a new era of planetary exploration by Burkhard Bilger discusses Earth and Mars known as the “Goldilocks Planets,” this is because Earth and Mars both have the perfect environment for life to be sustained. I was first observed that Mars had evidence that it could sustain life in 1877, by the astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli. Schiaparelli drew a map of mars as an “earthly paradise.” This was because he observed that the planet had what appeared to be continents and water channels on the surface. Although, it was discovered that Mars has less water contents then earth’s driest desert. Nevertheless, because of Mar’s atmosphere and geological environment Mars has the possibly that it can sustain life. NASA has sent many space crafts to explore what is on Mars the first was the Mariner 9 then, Viking 1 and Viking 2, the…

All of the planets in our solar system with the exception of Earth are named after Roman Gods Mercury is the god of travel and thievery in Roman mythology. The planet is probably named after this god because it moves quickly across the sky. Venus is the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is undoubtedly named after her because it makes a beautiful sight in the sky. Earth is the only planet whose English name does not come from Greek/Roman mythology. Mars is the Roman god of War. The planet probably got this name due to its red color. Jupiter is the King of the Gods in Roman mythology, making the name a good choice for what is, by far the largest planet in our solar system. Saturn is the Roman god of agriculture. Uranus is the ancient Greek god of the Heavens, the earliest supreme god.…

The opinion I had of my presentation before I watched my video was much different from the opinion afterwards. I thought I was nervous, legs shaking, and speaking in a tense tone. However, after watching I realized I was much more relaxed, speaking clear and professionally and that my level of professionalism was much more then I expected. I was able to continuously move around while speaking in a confident manner. Although my introduction was clearly stated in a manor that I believe captured the audience and intrigued them to learn more; I stumbled on a few words rushing through points I would have liked to expand on. Secondly, I believe I was speaking at a fast past and didn’t take the chance to add some delay between topics. I believe this was caused by my nervousness and I used my continuation of words to provide comfort in the opening slides. This bad habit continued throughout my entire presentation. Overall decreasing my level of professionalism. Although these flaws may have occurred, I believe I battled through these nerves and was able to talk in a clear voice. In my opinion, I believe I was able to do this because I knew the ins and outs of my material. I knew my material because I took the time to practice. I believe practice is the key to success. Therefore, I would assess my performance as strong, since it conveyed my topic in an informative and professional way.…

I am proud to have led a campaign that ignited awareness within our community. We attracted 355 people in two different days at the museum, and surveying most of the attendees; results showed that the presented material new to 60 percent of our public, and 92 percent affirmed the were likely to take an action towards the groundwater problem. I believe I developed a project that helped our team-members to grow as public speakers from all the training I arranged - which was evidenced by the survey, where 85 percent of the attendees rated the speakers as engaging, while 96 percent rated the event as…
