Bar soap is seemingly such an unassuming everyday household item. However it isn’t as simple as it may appear. For example, Dove soap is made up of sodium cocoylisethionate, stearic acid, coconut acid, and sodium tallowate. In addition, water, sodium isethionate, sodium stearate, cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium cocoate or palm kernelate, fragrance, sodium chloride, BHT and titanium dioxide are also used. Now, the once ordinary bar of soap seems so much more complex. To my surprise, many women around the world see a bar of Dove soap even more complex than that. The Dove campaign for Real beauty has inspired many women to think far more critically about something that they would normally not think much about. Since 2004 Dove has tried, “…to celebrate the natural physical variation embodied by all women and inspire them to have the confidence to be comfortable with themselves.”(Dove) Dove has launched a variety of advertisements, video, workshops, and sleepover events to 11 million women throughout the country.…

Not everyone likes the same stuff. But I have to tell you Dove is so much better to use. If you have rough or sensitive skin. Dove can be bought for sensitive skin; they make it that way without a smell so it doesn’t break you out. This makes it a better soap to use. It also will wash off easily. So that there’s no soap scum left on your skin. This leaves your skin feeling cleaner and smoother.…

Unilever owns the Dove brand that was praised for uniquely marketing their skincare products. Dove created the “Real Beauty” marketing campaign that promised to “help real women reveal their own real beauty” and the Dove Self-Esteem Fund that promotes a “change in young girls’ attitudes about themselves” (Sheth, et. al, 2014, 95). This is a dramatic step away from similar companies in the market that advertised only one standard of beauty. While Dove can be commended for addressing this social issue, the “Real Beauty” campaign should not be mistaken for Unilever’s desire to inspire women. Unilever also owns Axe, a skincare line marketed towards males that routinely depicts women in the media’s traditional sense of beauty (Stampler, 2013). The “Real Beauty” campaign is not a reflection of Unilever’s need to encourage a healing message in their marketing, rather the “Real Beauty” campaign is a way for Dove to differentiate themselves in the market to sell more product. The campaign is not a company view, but a branding…

Dove Inc. is a well-known body care brand that has played a key role in the body care industry since it’s introduction in 1955. Many women identify with Dove because of their large array of products that are available to them and because of their strong advertising campaigns. In January 2010, Dove Inc. launched their new product line that was to cater specifically to men. Initially, Dove Men+Care was advertised to gain recognition by a female target base. After women were familiar the brand, the new line would be targeted to men through a Super Bowl sponsorship and through other advertising channels. The fact that Dove had always been defined as a women’s brand posed a problem for the new line. Dove had to drive their new advertising campaign in a way that would change the reputation of the brand so that it was no longer viewed as “women only”. The brand awareness for this men’s line is relatively low but considering that this is a new line, Dove Men+Care has room to grow and develop a larger consumer base and raise brand awareness.…

The purpose of dove’s promotional mix is to promote and advertise their product to the public to gain interest and awareness about what they have to offer. By promoting their product they are trying to increase sales of this anti-aging lotion and also increase the profit coming into the business. Also they aim to gain more interest in the brand so that they will be able to sell more of their products. Dove uses advertising by commercially advertising themselves on mobile devices, for example if you have an app open on your smart phone adverts will usually pop up at the bottom of the app, dove uses this space to advertise themselves to gain the attention of a large amount of consumers. They also use visual advertising in the form of TV adverts; these adverts are usually plain and simple so that it is just focused on the product and nothing else. They are simple but not boring therefore it holds the customers attention throughout while they are watching it. Dove uses a variety of PR companies, they do this to that their products get more recognition by the public, the PR companies will find a celebrity to be placed in the dove adverts or get a celebrity to be seen purchasing the product. This will then increase the sales of that product because more people will want/ be willing to buy it if a celebrity is seen buying it or using it. Dove uses sales promotion methods to promote their products, an example of this is when they give out free samples of one of their products; they will give out free samples to a large amount of the public this will the gain the interest of consumers, if the customers like the free sample that they have been given then they will be more likely to go and buy a large version of that product. Dove also uses sponsorships to promote their products. They promote various rugby teams to get recognition of a large number of potential customers. By sponsoring large well-known names they are able to get interest of their brand…
