a) Identify a product or a service that you have purchased recently to illustrate the importance of the chosen value. Explain your attitude toward the product.

If someone asks me what the most important value of me is, I think my answer would be comfortable life. For an example, every day I must travel the MTR to go to school, although I can choose to go to school by bus, but I would not to get this method to have my journey. It is because in my values, the cost of spending the time and standing in the outdoor station to wait the bus is higher than I spend the time to wait the MTR train in the indoor station, also, you can see that it’s more comfortable. So this is showing that I’m influence my purchase decision by my self feelings and self values, also MTR this company is giving my a comfortable, safety and fast image rather than bus, and that is my internal search to feel that. Why I would have though that? This was just because in my livelihood there have many of massage that I receive which is meaning MTR is comfortable, safety and fast, send around from external, like my family, advertising, internet and more of it. So in my psychology, I will intentionally or unintentionally to collect and remember this on my mind and this is being my person’s mental images or understanding about this firm. (http://en.wikip edia.org/wiki/Affective, accessed 20/2/2012) In addition, our subculture is let me to think that MTR is important and mainly public transport in our daily, because the MTR company keep to send out the message to create its image is positive so that assimilation to public mind .This is also a point to effect our why to travel MTR and not bus. Like we will think MTR is quiet, clean, fast and a lot of the positive point of it; but about the bus, we can have a pile of negative words to describe it, dirty, old, and

In the summer of 1965, 17-year-old Fred DeLuca was trying to figure out how to pay for college. A family friend suggested that Fred open a sandwich shop—and then the friend invested $1,000 to help get it started. Within a month, they opened their first sandwich shop. From that humble start grew the Subway franchise chain with more than 33,000 outlets in 91 countries. Targeted advertising, timely publicity, and sales promotion have been important to Subway’s growth. For more than 10 years, memorable Subway ads featured Jared Fogle, a college student who was overweight but lost 245 pounds by only eating Subway’s low-fat sandwiches like the “Veggie Delite.” Jared says it was a fluke that he ended up in Subway’s ads. After all, he was recruited to do the ads because of good publicity that Subway got after national media picked up a story that Jared’s friend wrote about him in a college newspaper. Subway’s strategy at that time focused on its line of seven different sandwiches with under 6 grams of fat. The objective was to set Subway fare apart from other fast food, position it to appeal to health-conscious eaters, and spark new sales growth. Jared already knew he liked Subway sandwiches, but the “7 under 6” promotion inspired him to incorporate them into his diet. As soon as Jared’s ads began to run, word of his inspiring story spread and consumer awareness of Subway and its healthy fare increased. It’s always hard to isolate the exact impact of ads on sales, but sales grew more than 18 percent that year. The ads also attracted attention from potential franchisees. Many of them followed up by requesting the franchise brochure, which explains how Subway’s strategy works and why Subway is a profitable small business opportunity. For instance, it describes how franchisees elect a group to help advertising managers at Subway headquarters with advertising and media buying decisions—so that Subway outlets get…

The Ritz-Carlton Case Study Few brands attain such a high standard of customer service as the luxury hotel, The Ritz-Carlton. The Ritz-Carlton dates back to the early 20th century and the original Ritz-Carlton Boston, which revolutionized the way US travelers viewed and experienced customer service... What the other organizations could learn from Ritz-Carlton Hotels would be to hire the „right people for the right job‟, i.e. servicing. If an organization hires people who are not the cultural fit and are not servicing-material, then the organization would be made up of all the wrong people doing something that is not actually required for the achievement of organizational goals. Also what other organizations should keep on mind is that the organizational culture is to be maintained and not changed unless and until there is dire need for it, because if it is changed, its takes its toll on the employees and the customers by altering something that they are used to doing and seeing/experiencing there respectively. One more thing that other organizations could learn from Ritz-Carlton Hotels is that the Organizational Culture must be kept in mind always, and that “excellence” should be achieved revolving around it, not the other way around! The people who are, self-motivated, pleasant by nature, enjoy helping others, and are a friendly personality, are mainly fit for this job. Basically the “right cultural fit” as it is the service industry, and people interested in service oriented jobs are first picks from the job pool. As the new employees are selected against a personality mentioned earlier in this question, all they would need to “learn” the culture would be simply being themselves. Through this, they would polish their innate skill for servicing customers and prove to be the right fit for the job. The most important challenge that the company might have faced in my opinion would be the transition time between the “scripted approach” to “figure-it-out-yourself…
