Mark Antony towards the end of his speech reads Caesar’s will, which definitely helps his case. “ Here is the will, and under Caesar’s seal to every Roman citizen he gives- to every several man he gives- seventy-five drachmas.” (3.2.232-234). This shows the people that even though he is dead Caesar was a great leader who was going to do everything in his power to care for them. Mark Antony strongly defends the fact that Caesar wasn’t ambitious. “ I thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse. Was this ambition? Yet Brutus says he was ambitious.” (3.2.95-97). This quote helped Antony to explain that if Caesar were truly ambitious then logically he would have taken the crown, not pushed it away. Brutus in his speech tries to reason with the people as to why he killed Caesar. “[...]As I slew my best lover for the good of Rome, I have the same dagger for myself when it shall please my country to need my death.” (3.2.41-44) In this quote Brutus is trying to convey the fact that his killing of one person was so that the rest of the city could be happy and that he would do that to himself if there was a need for it.…

Antony portrays how loyal he was to Caesar by the way he acted upon Caesars demands. He listened very precisely to the words asked of him and never once in the whole play did Antony disobey what Caesar ordered. Antony appears to be Caesars servant because he takes on the roll a servant should even though he is not. At times he would call him "Caesar, my lord?" (1.2.5). Even when Caesar was not asking him to do something for him he was still very loyal at heart . After Caesar was assassinated Antony again shows his loyalty, and asks if he is to be killed, he would like to be killed by the side of the noble Caesar. "...If I myself, there is no hour so fit/As Caesar's death's hour"(3.1.153-154) "...No place will please me so, no mean of death,/As here by Caesar,"(3.1.161-162). This shows that he holds Caesar as a very noble man, and that he loved him. Since Antony was not killed he fought for what is right and aimed to get revenge on the conspirators. He did what Caesar would believe was best for Rome. By doing that he was showing that he is loyal all the time and he always will be, for as long as he lives.…

Mark Anthony committed suicide after losing the war against Octavian’s forces. Instead of Cleopatra being imprisoned from the Roman conqueror, she took her own life. But, there are many different allegation on Cleopatra death, the asp, or Egyptian cobra, and in fact really no cause of death. Lada Panova states that “Octavian's navy defeated Mark Antony at Actium on 2 September 31 BCE, and on 10 August 30 BCE, just after Octavian's troops entered Alexandria, Cleopatra committed suicide, a few days after Mark Antony.”(Panova). After Cleopatra’s death in 30 B.C., her son Caearion took the throne , as stated in Cleopatra: A Biography “With the death of Cleopatra, the kingdom legally passed to Caesarion, who ruled for 18 days as Ptolemy XV” (Roller). Cleopatra was known for her seductive ways, but she was the last queen to reign over Egypt. The author who wrote "Where's Cleo? stated that “Cleopatra's reputation as a seducer of emperors--Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Octavian (later Caesar Augustus)--and her suicide by snake bite have made her one of the ancient world's most intriguing characters”…

    Battle of Actium

The Battle of Actium was a battle that took place during the time of the Roman civil war (32-30 B.C.) between Marc Antony and Octavian. This was fought on the day of September 2, 31BC in the Ionian Sea, more specifically in the Gulf of Ambracia. After the brutal assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC, Rome was in need of a leader. Octavian was named the heir in his will, but Marc Antony was the one who took over and handled all of his papers and legions. Neither of these two men were capable, so they joined the Second Triumvirate with Lepidus, a respectable general. On individual terms, they were persuading senators and generals to join their side. One thing led to another, eventually leaving control of the Western provinces to Octavian, and the East to Marc Antony. Shortly after this, Antony marries the sister of Octavian, Octavia. This begins an uneasy truce between the two even though they once worked as a team in defeating Brutus and Cassius at the battle of Philippi in 42 BC. Once Marc took over the Western provinces he began his relationship with Cleopatra VII, Queen of Ptolemaic. He openly lived with her/married her while he was still married to his Roman wife, Octavia. Antony didn’t divorce her immediately either. The Romans resented his actions, causing his overall support to decrease. Octavian decides to get involved by reading an alleged copy of Antony’s will which supposedly gave the majority of his power to Cleopatra’s children. Whether this will was authentic or not is something we still don’t know. Still, the senate had no other choice but to declare war on to Marc Antony and Cleopatra.…
