Although, Monroe did not have an easy life growing up. She spent most of her life in foster homes and an orphanage, as her mother, Gladys Pearl Monroe, was not mentally, nor financially prepared for a child. The identity of Monroe’s father is unknown, seeing as her mother was married twice but divorced both before Marilyn was born. Marilyn had two half siblings from her mother. Her sister, Berniece, whom she had not known about until she was 12 and had not met until she was an adult.
