Is marijuana as bad as society makes it out to be? Since the 1930's marijuana has been illegal in the United States. That being said it's somehow America's number one cash crop. Users of the drug aren't the only ones who support cannabis; many of us who do not indulge are pro-legalization because we see that prohibition does more harm than good.…

The client is Justin King, a winner of The “National Idol Regional Contest” last year on April 5th in Chicago, he was awarded a three year recording contract for $275,000 a year plus a percentage of sales with MCI Records. Mr. King further states that due to an accident on Interstate 57, just south of Chicago, he was unable to fulfill his contractual duties because of injuries sustained to his jaw and face. My case study was number 14. Tavion’s father brought him to the Methodist Hospital for a broken arm and he was reluctant to leave his son’s side. And what his father said about the broken arm did not seem to be true. The father was not allowed to come during the X-ray and then the nurses asked the boy about the broken arm, how he got it. Father’s claim about Tavion falling from jungle gym seemed false because the injuries were clean, and the nurses asked Tavion if he’s scared of getting beaten at home and he said no. Before leaving hospital, Tavion’s father requested to not release the medical reports without his consent and the following weekend Tavion’s divorcee mother asked for a copy of them, because she suspects abuse.…

There are a numerous number of drugs in the United States. There is a drug like marijuana that you could smoke, get high from, and still pass a urinary test with it in your system. This drug can be called many things: legal spice, spice, legal, potpourri, and anything else someone might come up with. The two most common drugs used in the US have been legal spice and marijuana. The scientific term for legal spice is Synthetic Cannabis it is an herbal and chemical item that when smoked, mimics the effects of marijuana. It is best known as legal spice or K2. There has been an increase in drug abuse by the use of legal spice which is mixed with different chemicals such as JWH-018. JWH-018 was first developed in 1995 for research, by organic chemist John W. Huffman at Clemson University in South Carolina. (http://syntheticmarijuana.wordpress.com/). He created this chemical compound and tried to find cannabinoid receptors in the brain. The parts that THC in marijuana bond with to produce feelings of euphoria and research shows he was successful in these findings. (http://syntheticmarijuana.wordpress.com/). These chemicals do not show up in the system but result in having a long term effect on the body. According to Huffman, “it doesn’t hit the brain in the same way as marijuana, and that’s why it’s dangerous.” (http://hightimes.com/news/mmiller/7144). Legal spice is known all around the US and in some places it is legal. In other cities it is not, because of the effects it causes on the body. Many people were smoking legal spice when it was “legal” because of the fact that it didn’t show up in a drug test. It was…

If something does more good ,than bad ,then is it truly bad? This is the case with marijuana. The United States groups marijuana in with much harsher drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and other opiates which are proven to lead to death. The federal government fails to realize the benefits which marijuana provides. These benefits range from helping the medical field expand into cheaper and more beneficial solutions to helping solve financial issues for state and federal governments. This implementation would be unnerving however most states have already legalized marijuana and their results provide a great pathway for a full legalization. Medical marijuana should be legal because it has legitimate medical uses,…

Recently, the controversial debate over legalizing marijuana has become more relevant than ever before. In the states of Washington and Colorado marijuana is currently legal for recreational use. In Michigan the cities of Detroit, Flint and Grand Rapids have decriminalized the drug. Also, in the cities of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti the penalties for marijuana are closely related to receiving a speeding ticket. I will be researching the legalization of marijuana in the United States. As I began to research this topic I realized just how uneducated many people are when it comes to marijuana. This report aims to analyze the many organizational aspects that need to be established in order to facilitate the growth, distribution, regulation, and the effects on both our economy and the people who will be using marijuana in those two states.…

After the legalization of recreational marijuana in Colorado took place back in 2014, their crime rate dramatically dropped by more than 10% as from the year before, and their revenue or tax soared above the expected amount. This act proved to the USA, that recreational marijuana rather settles the illegal lifestyles and adjust the state's economy, where it was trying to survive the declining economy. Not for long, any adult who is older than 21 will be legal to purchase recreational marijuana in Nevada. In fact, the supporters of this law legalization have doubled the amount from the ones who supported the past Washington and Colorado's law passing. Since the two states have shown, there is a great chance that Nevada could encounter the same…

When I started my research I was initially interested in marijuana legalization and the debate between why or why not our country should legalize the substance all together. However, throughout my time researching valid points on why cannabis is illegal now and reasons why it shouldn’t be illegal, I found myself more drawn to the psychological studies of the substance. The certain psychological effects the drug has on certain people became very appealing to me, as I wanted to learn more and find out the reason marijuana effects some people in a psychologically negative way. The one thing that turned me on to further investigate the topic of the psychological effects of marijuana, was when…
