Marco River Journey
In my family, we spend time together. On the weekends, we go out and see our journey in the San Marco River and our surroundings. On this journey, my family and I go and have fun over the weekend at the San Marcos River. First, we spend a one hour to get there; we get there around 6:00 in the morning. We start to set up everything that we bring from home. When we finish, we take a five to ten-minute break before we go the river and have fun, and then we eat something fast like potato chips. Then, we go to the river and have fun. Suddenly, I heard my brother yelling help, help, help; he had a muscle cramp underwater that he cannot move or swim at all. We must call the Rangers’ office because he cannot support the pain he had that day, and I even had to drive back home. On my way to the deeper side of the river I met this person, he told me that my future was going to be great. I started a conversation about how to be a great business owner; he told me the benefits the weaknesses of becoming a business owner. …show more content…
When I heard the meat on the grill popping the oil out. The smell was good that it felt soft when I touched it. It was going to be a wonderful day, the meat looked so good that had made my day. I invited my new friends over to help me understand how to be a business owner later they join us to eat and talked more about the conversation. He later told me to go to college so a could study business. I didn’t want to go to college because I was thought it was going to be as high school. He told me about his story about when he became a business restaurant owner; he even showed me some pictures of his restaurant when he began till today’s date. I saw a substantial change he made to his business. I saw a picture from when he began with only ten persons. The clients were around twenty to 40 per day. I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

The splashes of the freezing spillway mixed with the cold wind coming off the water sent chills down my back. I yawned, the loud purr of the tugboat next to us made it impossible to hear my uncle ask if I was tired. We were passing the train of barges right after we left the launch and were headed into the woods. I have done all this before. It was all familiar to me. The only difference was that I had never been out here this early. The eerie white light of the moon was the only thing that let us see right now. Luckily for us the moon was huge and full tonight. It was about 4:30 in the morning and we were speeding into the swamps of the spillway. I looked at my uncle and I saw him standing up, driving the boat, with a smile on his face. This was his job and he loved it. When you love the wilderness, being out in the woods for eight hours a day was a treat. Especially when it ended with picking up a paycheck of about a thousand dollars at the end of each of those days.…

Last Summer, I visited Costa Rica on a kayaking trip with Falling Creek, a summer camp in Tuxedo, NC. Every year, 20 or so kids get invited to the program called HUCK, where you go kayaking in places around the world. Last summer, all of the kids that were invited went to Costa Rica where we would have a great time experiencing new culture and great whitewater. The First few days were great and those were some of the most powerful, best rivers I have ever kayaked.…

There were some salmon, but if I put them in my knapsack, it will turn bad. I got back to the shelter to grab my knapsack and decided to search for the second shelter, I went along the river, which led me downhill. It was a forest with huge trees, filled with life, but there are still salmon in the river, so I chose that instead. I broke off a branch and stabbed some salmon, I got two, which was plenty. I started a fire near the river to just cook the fish, I didn’t do it near the trees because they might catch fire. There wasn’t a place to take shelter, so I stayed up a tree the whole night, that is a typical…

It was a ghastly type of day in northern Minnesota, specifically Seagull Creek Fishing Camp. No phone service to be found, television to be watched or people to interact with. Yes, there was the old couple that lived down the bumpy and torn apart road but besides that you would have drive almost three hours to see any civilization. The camp was run and maintained by a guy named Mike Berg. He lived in the town back 131 miles, Grand Marais. He owns three of the four cabins located on the camp, while the other is cabin set as a museum of the camp. It holds some past of the camp and why it was so successful in the past years. After waking up that with the sun just blaring on my face, my hands lifted up to my face to wipe off any eye…

We were all sucked dry from the sun that day with zero energy left, we scavenged what we could and we still ate better than we could have at any local dinner. The day was still long and was only going to get hotter and longer even as the day came to a close. There was more things to do around the land than there was at any theme park. So as we all sat around and waited for something to do you could tell that everyone was thinking the same thing as sweat poured down all of our faces. The cold spring fed creek was the only thing that was going through my mind and I knew that was the only thing going through anyone else’s. We walked down to the creek as there was no other way that you could reach it, and as we got closer and closer you could hear the light eco of the fifteen foot waterfall coming off of the trees. The only thing I was looking for was the spit of the water flowing up through the large oak and misquote tree branches. You knew when everyone saw the water, you could see the sight of the crystal clear water shining off of everyones eyes and you could tell that there was a sudden sign of relief that came upon everyone after the long walk through the large misquote trees avoiding as many thorns and cactuses as they possibly could, being careful as could be you weren't going to miss all of them. And there was no better feeling than soaking your wounds in that…

It was three years ago in May, and my family decided to set out on a trip to the famous Lake Powell. My Turpin side, which is who we went with, consists of a fair amount of people: Grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Lake Powell is a reservoir located on the Colorado River on the border between Utah and Arizona. It was a little over five hundred miles from Snake River to Lake Powell and it took us over nine hours to get there. The drive consisted of my cousins and I sleeping on each others shoulders, and lots of movies since my Grandpa had TV screens in his truck.…

I was with my dad fishing on a Friday during the summer at about 4:30 PM. The day was hot and bugs were everywhere around us. I had on jeans, a t-shirt and a vest to store any fish we catch. My dad had on the same, but i had a smaller fishing rod than he did because I was small and not really ready for a fishing rod like my dad’s. We went out to fish and started at a bridge that was very rundown and poorly maintained and didn’t catch much because of the current and rocks around where we were. We got one fish to bite but it fell off whenever we pulled it up out of the water. We then decided to move to another spot over by the cliffs and ridges because no one was there to get in the way. For a while we didn’t go anywhere too crazy and nowhere that took too much effort to get to. Little did I know was that it’d all change quicker than I thought..…

The first time I ever went to Cape Fear River was on July 10 2014. I begged my parents to let me go that morning and finally they said “ pack up your clothes and all the sleeping gear so we can go and you can be quite.’’ I called my buddies and they all said meet y’all there at the Lock Dam 3. We went to the farm and got our 14 foot War Eagle Jon boat. We left the house around twelve o’clock and we took off for Walmart to buy some delicious steaks, soft bread and some crickets to fish with. We meet one of my buddies in the walmart parking lot. He was buying some comfortable sleeping bags and a blow up mattress to slip inside the tent so we wouldn’t have to sleep on that cold, hard sand. We took off to the river with our tall trucks and meet everyone down there at the dam.…

Rays of sun gleamed upon the bronzed skin of my family while splashing clear green water of the Tennessee River. It was my parents, grandfather, two sisters, niece, and my brother in law. Exhaustion quickly crept among us after a day filled with intense activities such as; skiing, competitive volleyball, and long boat rides on the fragile, slow moving pontoon. We then prepared ourselves for the boat ride home which would soon be a tragedy rapidly moving towards our direction.…

It was a very hot day in July. My friends and I decided to go to the Mississippi River for a few days to hangout, get tan and wakeboard. The day we made our journey, it was six in the morning on a Saturday. Gross right? I mean who in their right mind would wake up on a Saturday at six in the morning!? Well… us, because we aren't in what you may call a “normal mind-set”. We aren't like the teenagers nowadays that sit in bed until three in the afternoon wasting our precious summer. We realize that there are only twenty-four hours in a day and we take full advantage of that! For us, waking up early like that is just a promise to have a long, exhilarating day. After waking up and packing everything needed, we take off for Wabasha. One long hour goes by and we finally get to the boat landing where I back in the boat. As I drive out to the main channel, I saw that the water is calm…

Spending good quality time with family is really enjoyable. The quality of the time spent is irreplaceable. We love playing scrabble with each other after our feast. Laughing and joking with each other because someone decides to make new words while playing. Monopoly is always fun too. I enjoy catching up and talking with loved ones that I haven’t seen in a while. Just sitting around and watching a new movie with the family or even simply to relax. I am so blessed to have such a great family.…

We walked around the town, we hiked the mountains, and we visited the beaches. While these activities were fun, I found them an exhausting departure from my typical “easy” lifestyle. I really had to adapt to their way of living. In the U.S, kids have fun by playing video games or hanging out with friends, but in Santa Maria, they hike up mountains and grab fruits and vegetables growing on trees. When my cousins and uncles told me what they did for fun I felt so awkward because my way of having fun felt so boring in comparison. I pushed myself to do everything that my grandma wanted to do and eventually, I came to enjoy going out and doing all these cool things. I never thought that I would be able to experience what my dad used to do as a kid when he lived in Costa Rica. It gave me a live snapshot of his…
