March of Dimes is a non-profit organization. It was founded by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944 (March of Dimes Foundation, 2017). The headquarters are in White Plains, New York. This organization pursues to improve the health of mothers and babies. Their focuses are premature babies and birth defects. Premature babies are babies that are born before they are fully developed. Premature babies tend to be born with birth defects that can have negative effects on their lives. They are also more likely to die prematurely. On the March of Dimes home page, fifteen million babies are born prematurely every year. Out of those fifteen million babies, 1 million of them die each year (March of Dimes Foundation, 2017).
