Uses of Newspaper
Newspaper is an important object of modern civilization. It is most commonly accepted as a record of the current events. But the meaning and role of a newspaper are more than being a mere document of events. Newspaper appeared only after the invention of the printing press by Gutten berge. The India Gazette is the first newspaper in India. It was published in 1744.
Newspapers are the cheapest medium of information today. Also they are easily available to everybody. Newspapers are an important means of educating people. One of the fruits of the development of science is the newspaper. This field has grown fast. It links the whole world. Those who read newspapers become well-informed about current affairs.
Newspaper is a means of voicing the public opinion. Various items of news are published in a newspaper. All kinds of people read it. Lawyers come to know the cases of social and political injustice through newspaper. They express their opinion about those cases of injustice.
News is the combination of the first letters of the four directions-North, East, West and South. The newspaper brings news from different parts of the world. It publishes information to suit that tastes of different sections of society. People can learn about political trends, business trends, employment opportunities and weather for-casts.
It also contains articles and important information for the farmers, the traders, the scientists, the teachers and the students. The news about cyclones is of timely help. The “Wanted” or “Situation vacant” columns give some relief to the jobless. In short, its use is immeasurable because of the growth in electronic industry. The newspaper industry has developed to a great extent. Newspaper is the powerful medium of communication. Thus newspapers are useful for almost everyone.
