The Manhattan Project The manhattan project is a very important part to world war 2 and the way things turned out. The country that was in the middle of all this was Nazi Germany lead by Adolf Hitler.He was the man that started the hunt of al the jews known as the genoside. In 1938 people feared that hitler would build an atomic bomb after news got out that german scientists had split the uranium atom "fission". One thing that hitler never thought of was the use that the jewish scientist could have been to him. Most of the jewish scientist fled to the untied states to find refuge from the genocide. It could not leak out into the public beacuse that same would happen that happpened to the germans , other countries would try and attempt the same thing. By 1945 there were at least 40 laboratories with around 200,000 employes working on this one project. In the midsts of all this there were some of the greatest scientists out there working in these laboratories and factories. Some of the famous scientist were Ablbert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, Richard Ferynam and Harold Urey. In 1945 the so called "Manhattan project" was a sucess. Since 1939 that the project had started to harness the power of nuclear energy, they had done it ! on July 1945 the first test of the atomic bomb was going to take place. The test bomb known as "Fat Boy" was dropped in the new mexico desert and was a sucesss. This test was known as the Trinity Test. This lead to the creation of two other atomic bombs that would be used in World War 2. On August 6, 1945 a bomber airplane realeased the first atomic bomb. The bomb "Little boy" exploded in Hiroshima ,Japan. The blast was very deadly and resulted in the death of 66,000 plus people.The whole blast was at least 1 mile in diameter. Three days later after "Little Boy" was dropped a second bomb " Fat Man" was dropped on the town of Nagasaki. This bomb weaight about 10,000 pound and destoryed almost half of the city. Scientists estimated that both atomic bombs only used one tenth of its
